Adapter for 50A connection?

Just got our travel trailer and booked our first trip. The space we wanted at the park has 50A service. Our trailer has the 30A power cable feed in the back. Question - is the connector the same or will I need some sort of adapter to plug my power cord into the 50A receptacle at the campsite?

In MI the state park would have both so you would be all set.

The connection is not the same. You may need an adapter, however, most sites advertised as 50 amp also have a 30 amp receptacle. Still, I would have an adapter on hand before you go. Just in case.

I have encountered one park that only had 50 amp on the site I was in. I used a 30 to 50 amp adapter.

X2 on having the adapter on hand. We just got back from a trip where the site we were at had both 30amp and 50amp, but the 30amp outlet was loose and showed signs of previous arcing. Rather than take a chance I used the 50amp outlet with my adapter for a solid connection.

One RV park we stayed at last year had the four electric hookups for four sites in a central location at the rear. We didn't know that 2 pedestals had 30amp only and 2 had 50amp only, but saw two trailers plugged in so we backed in and started setting up. THEN we realized the two remaining pedestals were 50amp only.

DW made a LONG, hot walk to the office. They loaned us an adapter for our stay.

We bought an adapter so now we have one 'just in case.'

You should have every type of adapter on hand.

Not necessary unless you travel to a lot of unknown parks but it does not hurt to be prepared.

A 50 to 30 and a 30 to 15 would be a good start.

Thanks for the tips. I purchased a 50A to 30A adapter on Amazon, arrived today and stowed in case needed. I made a 30A to 15A adapter for running the lights and battery charging when in the driveway.
