Adapter to change the orientation of 30 and 50 amp plugs

Adapter to change the orientation of 30 and 50 amp plugs. I have been to several campgrounds where the ground is at the top of the RV plug instead of at the bottom. those campgrounds its hard to plug a surge protector into.
so they make an adaptor that basically rotates the connector 180 degrees? so the surge protector will hang down on the pedestal? I saw this on amazon, but it looks like it keeps the same orientation just extends it out.

That is confirmed in the question section. Does not rotate and I have never seen one like you are asking about.

I have never encountered one that was upside down. My main complaint is they are to low to the ground for proper clearance.

I have never encountered an upside down socket in 30 years of RV'ing. Guess there's always a first time, but it would make me suspicious that it might be miswired.

Where are these campgrounds with the upside down plugs? Never had an issue and haven't come across any that were too close to the ground either.

To close to the ground is because the ped was not inspected. It is a common problem.

You could get a 50 to 30 amp dongle to fix the orientation problem? Never seen it myself. I like to plug into the 50 myself which also acts as a stress release for my main plug.

We had one 30 amp plug upside down in a state park. The maintenance guy wired it correctly, just installed it back in the pedestal the wrong way. We just used one of our 30 amp extension cords at the plug, and the EMS at the female end. On the way out the next day, I mentioned it to the maintenance crew boss.

I ran across an upside down 30A plug at a state park in Nebraska a few years ago. Mentioned it to the ranger, and he fixed it later that day. At almost every park, I've found the 15A/120v plug is installed upside down - with the ground hole on top. One ranger told me they were that way so if something fell on the plug, it would only cut through the ground wire and not the hot or neutral wires. Doesn't make sense to me, but then again, I'm neither a ranger or an electrician.

YEP....CALIFORNIA started it....

Pics in the article below..... on the right we have what’s commonly referred to as “California Code” with the ground pin at the top. The California/Hospital code is a real thing, and now you’ll find that many states have adopted California Code for hospital, hotels and residential code. Yes, they can do that. Your state probably doesn’t care either way, but you’ll find that many electricians are simply installing all 15- and 20-amp outlets “ground up” since this is how many hotels are installing them.

We ran across upside down 30 amp plugs at Seven Points Campground in Nashville and again at a county park in Kansas. So far we haven’t seen any upside down 50 amp.

there is no up or down within the NEC as far as orientation goes when it comes to 15/20 amp outlets. With ground up, when the plug gets old and loose the ground can back out first and still work with no ground connection.

I don't remember the exact camp ground, but I remember it happening a couple of times and I had my surge protector up side down and it was putting a strain on my cord. (every 15 + 20 amp plug in my house has the ground at the top. and those stupid outlets with shutters to make them child resistant.

There's no such thing as "upside down".

there may be no such thing as upside down, but one way the cord and surge protector fits better than the other way.

The most common RV outlet is a round pin (ground) at the top.
