Add led lights

The biggest thing that i wish my new 2016 jayco 287BHSW trailer had was led lights under the awning. After finishing my paperwork at camping world, i went to the service desk to see how much it would cost to have them install led lights under the awning. They informed me that they could not because it would void the warranty. I emailed jayco and this is what they said "
Good morning,

Larry, you can have the dealer add the LED lights but we would not warranty the lights and if the lights caused any other damage we would not cover that damage.
"
I asked if i could install them myself and if it would change anything and they said the same rules would apply. I take that as i can install them and they will not cover them or any damage caused by them. Having said that, have any of you installed any on yours? Did you just get a led strip kit off ebay and stick it under the metal mounting plate for your awning? Also where did you run your wires? Thanks

I installed a set on our 2012 26BH. Lots of folks here have done the same. Do a search for the write-ups. It is very easy to do.

I installed mine myself, in order not to void any warranty I plug my harness each time we set up and zip tie the power supply to the arm of the awning.. outta sight outta mind. They cost about a 1/4 of the price the dealerships were charging.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing. I'm half tempted to see if I can get an adapter that plugs into the light bulb next to the door and put the box under the orange cover and just not use that light.

Did you stick the lights to the black metal strip on the trailer or the awning roll? Is there a way you could send me a pic? I would think the metal strip would be better.
