Add-on tow mirrors for Chevy

Hey All,

What do you use for tow mirrors on your TV? I have a '11 2500HD CC and can't really see the back of my TT. I was thinking about adding the OEM style telescoping mirrors but wanted some opinions. Thoughts?

X2 on the Cipa custom fit. Had them for my '95 'Burb and a set for my current '08 Sierra. Excellent. And contrary to popular belief, they do not leave marks or scratch anything. They have padding to prevent that.

I used the CIPA mirrors for about a year and really like them. Just upgraded to stock towing mirrors and I happy I did.

Do your new mirrors have the signal indicator, power adjust, heated, etc. functions? Any chance you have a pic of them installed? Thanks.

I had the smaller mirrors on my previous truck and looked to upgrade to the factory towing mirrors. Very cool fact was that it is an easy swap, three bolts per side. Additionally all of the wiring to add power and heat were there too. I found several new options on Amazon between 120 and 200, depending on options. My new truck has the factory tow mirrors; they are well worth it and at the campsite.

After two sets of suction cup and rubber strap type mirrors, we bought a set of Millenco Grand Aero mirrors. They attach quickly and securely, and didn't break the bank. They can be had for about 100 bucks give or take. They stick out farther for better visibility than anything else we tried, and although they do shake more than factory ones, it's very minimal.

I used CIPA mirrors on my previous 2012 Silverado. For me they were a big help. My current TV came with the large camper mirrors. The old CIPA's are in my garage on the shelf and can be had for cheap if interested.

I've been using the Fit System 3891 Deluxe Universal Clip-on with my Infiniti QX56 SUV and I'm very pleased. Reasonably priced, easy to clip on and off, no wind noise or vibration.

I purchased telescoping mirrors off eBay. They we probably half the price of other places and I thought the quality was at least equal to what I would get from a dealer. I got manual telescoping no signals. Cost me 150ish. But I am in Canada and find almost everything is a little more expensive than the USA for the same product. I could get the name of the seller if you're interested, but mine is a 2002 Chev so the product may be a bit different. I was so tired of putting the slide on extenders every other weekend...

I did the same, and mine have the turn signal and mirror defrosters built in.

As for quality...not so much. My mirrors shake a bit at higher speeds (the actual mirror, not the whole outer frame), but the factory ones on my step-dad's truck do not. I don't regret the decision to get telescoping mirrors, I just regret being cheap about it.

OP, they were no big deal to install if you go this route. Did it myself in an hour or so.

I've got a set in my garage "for sale" too if anyone wants them. It would make DW happy to be rid of them. I had them on my '12 Sierra and they helped quite a bit.

My new TV came with extendable tow mirrors.

I use the Fit system towing mirrors on my '12 GMC 2500HD Denali. was going to install after market mirrors but would hate to lose the power retracting capabilities of both my mirrors. These work great and I get to keep the options my truck has....

Thanks for all the info folks. I am going to check into the tow mirrors made for my TV and go from there. If they're too expensive, I may take one of y'all up on the CIPAs. Appreciate it.

Don't know what CIPA means, but we bought ours online at eTrailer. Easy to put on and take off, and I keep them in the TT when not in use. Custom fit for year, make and model of your vehicle.

Shrp,

I added the factory tow mirrors to our '10 Chevy, the swapped them to our '13 Chevy when we bought the HD as it did not have the factory tow mirrors either.

Not sure if GM still has the kit, it they had two different ones depending on if you had the non-power folding mirrors or if you had the power folding mirrors.. For the non-power folding mirrors, they are plug and play. If you have the power folding mirrors (LTZ) you will need to get the computer reprogrammed.

There was/is a great how to over in the GM-Trucks.com site. I will try to find it.

If you live in an area where it gets colder and townduring the winter, I would suggest getting the factory tow mirrors for the defrost. If you won't be towing during the winter, then the Cipa models seem to work well. I went with the factory due to towing a snowmobile trailer during the winter.

Good luck!!!

CIPA is the brand name. You probably have ones just like mine that are not CIPA, but very similar and a little cheaper. I would have to look up the actual brand name. I got mine from Etrailer.com as well.

I bought towing mirrors for my past two trucks from 1aauto.com .They look and function exactly like the oem upgrades. Both sets were pliug and play (pwr/htd/trn sgnl). Half the cost of oem.

Hi,
What's the model number on your CIPA mirrors? Define "had for cheap" :-)
