adding a plug w USB

Is switching out 1 wall plug in a trailer w the newer plug/USB combos possible/do-able or am I asking for trouble electrically?

I know many things, but I cant even BS my way through an electric conversation

I can't see any issue or reason why it wouldn't work. Should be a straight forward swap of an outlet...

I would not be concerned about any electrical problems. Normally these devices have a small power supply inside them that converts 120VAC to 5VDC for the USB. I guess it is possible these could trip a GFCI, so you might want to try one first.

I have a few in my house, and love them. They are expensive, but they never grow legs and wonder off.

I think they would be hard to install, as the electrical boxes are smaller than a typical house box.

I added a few 12V auxiliary power ports and use a car charger. This way I can charge when boondocking too.

I have a bunch in my house, and my 2016 Greyhawk has one factory installed under the dining table. The only issue I can see is the size of the box used where you want to install it. The USB/120 plug outlets are bigger because of the USB power supply.

Something like this is 15 bucks but i want to put it in wall so box size might be an issue

This would let you charge up devices when not connected to shore power or generator.

The depth of the box is probably the limiting factor, but if it is in an area where a deeper box can be installed (side of a cabinet) then you could change out the box too. I took the easy route and added 4 outlet AC tap near my entertainment centre with an additional 3 USB taps. I have another 2 USB taps in the 12V outlet just to the left so we can charge all our electronic devices wherever we are.

I just bought a power strip for home with USB charging ports. What ever you do make sure at least one of the ports is capable of 2.1 amps. Not all have a port capable of 2.1 amps. Tablets, even older ones, will not charge at all on 1 amp ports. Newer phones will but will charge slower.
