Adding another 12V battery

I just added another 12V battery in parallel to my JayFlight 22FB. I thought some on the forum might like to see photos of the finished job. It was an easy mod and inexpensive, Battery...$75, Battery Box...$9, #10 Brass wire and insulated terminals...$5. Took about 1/2 hour. The black wire you see in the photo is the Battery Tender connection for quick easy battery charging.

Looks good Hammerdown - I'll be doing the same when time-permits...

Don had an extra battery installed when we bought the tt. Your set-up is identical to ours. Looks good

Might want to switch out the red wire that connects the two negative battery posts--red is almost universally used for positive wiring and black (or sometimes white) is almost universally used for negative wiring.

My trailer came with a red wire connected to the negative battery terminal and a black wire connected to the positive terminal. I hooked the battery up backward and unwittingly blew the fuse to my safety switch but everything else still worked. Thank goodness I did not need the safety switch on that trip. I have since taped the wires with red tape on the black wire and black tape on the red wire so I do not make the same potentially dangerous mistake in the future.

Newbie Here. Just bought my first TT and it came with a single battery. This seems very straight-forward to add a second in parallel. What additional capacity might I find in adding a second battery?

Thanks,
Brian

Welcome to the forum, a second battery would be noticable if you are dry camping.

I also have a new 22FB. I wanted more battery capacity than the Gp24 that came with it. I had two Gp27 Voyagers that I had in a class B that I wanted to use, but there wasn't enough roon in the tongue area for two Gp27 boxes, so I built this one out of 3/4' plywood. It's primed and coated with spray-on truck bed liner. I installed a Blue Sea Battery on/off switch, also off of my B, so I could disconnect all of the parasitic loads when stored. The switch disconnects power to the converter, but the breakaway switch is wired direct so I have that function while towing with the batteries turned off. The switch has to be on when towing with the fridge, but that's OK since the batteries are getting charged from the 7 pin connector. I also encased all of the exposed wiring in loom just because it gives a nice finished look.

My next project is to run a propane line extension to the side of the trailer for a gas grill..
