Adding black tank flush

Today I added a black tank rinse/flush to our 287BHSW JayFlight SLX. To date, I've been using the wand and/or bucket but I'd like to make it >< much easier to dump. I installed the Quickie Flush I had bought years ago for another camper but couldn't find room.

Installation time
2 - 3 hours

Tools:
  • 1 1/8" hole saw
  • 1/8" drill bit
  • Sharpie or marker
  • Drill (maybe close quarters or right angle drill if you've got it)
  • Caulk gun
  • Razor
  • Flat screw driver
  • Nut driver
  • Tape measure (not shown)
  • And there's no more important tool than these, safety glasses
Consumables
  • Silicone
  • I opted for self drilling screws for the hose inlet mount
  • Wire ties

Setup
First things first, I had to find a good spot on the black tank to put it. I wanted to put it on the opposite end of the tank from the outlet but the way the tank is formed makes it difficult to get high enough on the sidewall. I finally settled on the front of the tank, unfortunately on the same side as the outlet because there was a frame support along the back side.

Installation
Begin by unboxing the kit and sourcing the tools. I happened to have a hole saw that was the right size but wound up needing a 3/8" mandrel to go in my close quarters drill. Not a big deal. Most of the installation went according to the instructions that came with the kit. (Instructions attached as PDF below.) I could not exactly put it at 2" from the top but I put it as I could in the center of the tank. Summary of steps:
  • Dump the tank
  • Start with drilling the large hole
  • Put the sprayer in the hole and mark the screw holes
  • Drill the screw holes
  • Silicone and install the sprayer
  • Mount the nozzle and run the hose
  • Connect hose with clamps

I have to wait 12 hours for the silicone to cure before I can test it and I'm a little concerned about the crimps in the hose from being in the package. If they are a problem I'll just get another hose from Home Depot or something.

Good luck!

Thanks!

Tested this morning and I have leaks on both ends. I did get the clear water running out of the hose so it looks like it works. It would have been better if it actually rinsed out something missed after last time I dumped but I'll live. More testing to follow after actual use.
