Adding Roof Ladder
Has anyone added an aftermarket roof ladder to their trailer without any issues?
I phoned my local dealer and they want over $700 to put a ladder on my 2011 26BH ($400 for after market). They said my trailer is 'cribbed' for the ladder but will not give me the drawing for liability reasons.
Obvisously if I do it it could cause warranty problems if I get any water issues but it may be work the risk....

If it were me, I would find out who Jayco uses as their ladder supplier. Purchase one of those ladders. Then I would find the same camper that you have except with the the ladder on it. I would take some measurements on it then and go at it.

$700 for a ladder is ridiculous! When I ordered my 2012 32bhds the ladder option was $93 list and around $65 is what I paid for it.

Perhaps look for cribbing with a good stud finder.

Good advice.
I would just buy a small telescoping ladder and carry that. Probably the least expencive and most trouble free way to go.

Liability reasons my Aunt Fanny! They just want you to have them do the work instead of you doing it yourself. Check with Jayco (not the dealer) to see if they can email you a drawing.
I personally wouldn't want a ladder permanently mounted on an RV, both for leakage concerns and, ironically enough, for liability concerns. At least one person here (I'm thinking it was Healthi but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong) has mentioned having problems with ladders from Jayco not holding up (whoever it was finally did get one that held up). I have seen posts elsewhere where people had problems with leaks at the attachment points.
My biggest worry, however, would be from kids or drunks getting up on the roof and falling off. Besides not wanting anyone to get hurt, something like that could result in a lawsuit.

We ordered our TT with the ladder. Someone else ordered their TT( same model as ours) without the ladder. Later on they ordered the ladder, took measurements from our TT and then installed their ladder themselves. It saved them money.

The guy that washes RV's in our park never uses the RV ladder to get on the roof. He brings his own and leans it on to the coach. He uses a pad for protection of the trailer. When I asked him why he uses his own he said he has had some bad experiences with camper ladders.

I got one of these off of ebay for about $100.00, 12 ft. I used it yesterday to wash the roof on our TT. Worked great.

We had the ladder on our 2005 26bh and in the end it cost us over 3500 for a new roof because it leaked around where it mounted to the roof. We just purchased a 2012 28bhs and ordered it without the ladder. Id go with the telescoping ladder.

The ladders that Jayco uses are crap. My 2011 came with one. Second trip up the ladder, the cheesy plastic (With one screw) on the ends of the steps broke. They are going to replace it under warranty, but I will never attempt to climb it again. It's just plain unsafe.
