anchoring propane tank

I have a jayco x17z, however I believe this applies for just about any TT. How is your propane tank anchored to your trailer? Mine has a platform at the front of the TT where the single tank sits, however I noticed the tank is not actually anchored down. It's just sitting there(!!)
Trailer was purchased recently, and I'm questioning the previous owners safety decisions. It looks like I can stick a little bolt between the base of the tank and the platform, but not sure if there's a better way.

Yes, the tank needs to be secured.

A bolt between the tank's base and a bracket on the TT may be enough.

As long as the tank won't bounce out when you are heading down the highway, you're good. Inspect the mounting hardware at every stop, just like you do the hitch and tires. Right?

There should be a couple of bolts. They are a PITA to get at and could have been removed
The tank will still clank on dirt roads. It drove us batty for a while

Now get down on the ground and look up at the bottom of the tank. Yes PITA

Our single tank was bolted to the frame (1007), but once we move up to dual tanks we got the standard tray with a butterfly nut on the top. Much easier to pop tanks in and out for filling, and holds them nice and secure. An inexpensive worthwhile upgrade IMO. Note that we never upgraded our TT to a dual regulator; the 2nd tank was for a spare and BBQ use.

It seems the single tank configurations are clearly lacking a solid mounting... I've seen a number of different ways to deal with it - here are a couple links to mods that have addressed this issue:

http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...unt-33741.html
http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f3...ort-26070.html

This was one of the first things I did after taking delivery - listening to it flop the 5 miles from the dealer to the house was enough for me.....

Mine have all come with dual tanks secured as is here. I have the dual regulator, however.

After a few trips the foot ring on my tank was beginning to fatigue at the bolt holes. Plus it was a major pain to secure and remove. You can scroll through my build thread to see how I secured my 30b tank.

fantastic. thanks a lot for the suggestions. I'll be looking for a set-up like Socco1's right away! (way cooler than a couple bolts!)
