Another 28BHBE is Home!

Just wanted to post a quick update. We made the trip to Ohio over the weekend and brought our 2016 28BHBE home. Dry weight just a tad over #7,000 and pulled great with our 2013 Chevy Express 3500. Now, to get it ready for the first "official" camping trip. I'll post better photos later, but here's one for now.

Congrats and nice looking setup. Can't wait to get ours and hope it's as problem free as our current camper. What motor/trans do the 3500 Chevy/gmc vans have?

Our van has the 6.0L engine coupled to the 6 speed 6L90 transmission. It's a good setup, we were able to maintain our towing speed of 60 mph at 3700 rpm in the southern Kentucky mountains coming home with some throttle left.

Just curious, do they sell the 3500 vans anymore? We were considering one but I couldn't find any. Went with a Ford Excursion and love it!

As of now, you can still purchase the Chevy Express new. However, I understand they might be changing that in 2017. Used ones that are a year or two old with ~25,000 miles go for $20-25,000.

They aren't fancy, but they are great tow vehicles for the money. Lot's of room, plenty of payload, decent tow capacity and the ability to lock your things in side (not to mention the seating). We love our Express as well!

We love our 28BHBE. But pay attention to the seal around the top of the slide inside. Ours is in the shop now to have it reattached. Other than that, it's been great.

We had that same problem. Top seal got all twisted up and pinched in between the slide and trailer wall. Once I got it all untangled, I just worked the seal back into its place on the track attached to the wall. Now when I open and close the slide, I use the remote so I can stand next to the slide grabbing the top of it pushing/pulling to move it along so it doesn't pinch/bind and rip the seal off again.

... or Chevy/GMC quit making the 3/4 ton suburban/yukonXL.

Those big SUV's make wonderful tow rigs.

Congrats on the new trailer. We brought ours home yesterday. Only an hour drive, but towed like a dream.
