Antenna Question

On my Jayco trailer I have the same antenna that every one else does. I have a tail section that goes on it to help with reception that I had on my other trailer but the way this antenna closes I can't use it because it will hit the air conditioner. My question is, can I take just the wing off the antenna pole and put it on the other way so it faces out instead of inwards so I can use the tail extension to get better reception? I hope you can understand what I'm trying to say

Can you slightly turn the ant before putting it down? I can't remember if the mounting was direction specific.

My BATWING antenna on my 5th wheel looks like this...


When i get ready to lower it down I always rotate the antenna to its docking position first. Then when I lower it down it sets on a angle strip that keeps the antenna from moving around when in travel more...

I too can lower it down and hit my roof mounted air conditioner if I don't go to the docking position first...

If your antenna is like what is shown in RoyBraddy's picture, the antenna's lift arm only allows the BATWING to be mounted on the one side.

I would try to find a different docking position where you can lower the antenna so the BATWING doesn't hit the A/C unit.

Note sure if that's possible, but it's worth a try.

All Jayco's do not use the same antenna, any longer. My antenna is the Winegard Rayzar.z1. It will rotate, but will not raise or lower. It is a fixed 7.5" to 8.5".

And unlike my last trailer, my 23RB also has a separate whip radio antenna.

I had the same problem on another rig. Someone gave me the addition. It was useless anyway. Made the antenna much to directional. Every time I changed channels, the antenna would have to be moved and rescanned.

Took it off and good riddance!

Exactly like the one in his picture. When I put it down it lays right next to air conditioner, I can't see any way to lower it in another position. I had this trailer for 5 years and I had the extension just taking up space from my other trailer so I thought MAYBE there would be some way but I guess not. We usually have cable TV in most of spots but since I have it I thought I might try and use it. Thank all for the information.
