Ants, again and again.

I've tried everything to get rid of ants while my TT is parked at home for years. Every time we use it and I put it in it's usual place, ants will crawl up the tongue jack or other places and invade the storage compartment. Eventually they end up inside, on the floor, cabinets, and counter tops. I can spray some good insect killer outside around the tongue and they slow down for a few hours. Next day they're back. They seem to follow the same track on the tongue. Help! Thanks.

Are they fire ants or the tiny sugar ants?
Have you ever tried Terro ant bait traps?

X2 on the ant baits. They hadn't gotten in yet, but they were exploring the entire tongue when I deployed several feeding stations. That was 4 years ago. They never recovered.

I've tried Terro and all the rest. They're small red ants. No fire ants. What kind of feeding station mike?

You might be dealing with pharaoh ants. Your off the shelf baits will have a difficult time eliminating the colonies. I would recommend you seek the help of a professional.

Raid brand outdoor. A plastic spike secured a circular ant specific bait station.

Every time I read about the small ants always brings back bad memories from camping with our annual family get-to-gether at LAKEWOOD in Myrtle beach.

The small sand ants get in everywhere both trailer and truck.

Sometimes we stay in the VILLAs at LAKEWOOD and no ANT problems so there must be a fix. However when we leave in the truck they are all over it on the inside after going done the road a hundred miles or so.

When we leave we are usually heading for GSMP in TN before going back to Virginia and usually have to stop the truck along the way as the hot sun brings them them out of hiding. So here we are in a rest area moving things out of the truck killing ants...

Then when we get to the Smoky Mtns the same thing goes on for the trailer before we can go to bed that night.

NO TELLING how many ant colonies we have moved from Myrtle beach to the Smoky Mtns haha...

Use Ortho Home Defense. I've used it for years around my home and my boat and camper. Works perfect!

First do you have any pets to be concerned with?

Then I would do some web searching in regards to Borax, it does wonders, but you can kill your lawn if you over dose. Another option that I have not seen for sale for while is Diazinon (sp??) It is a great ant colony killer. My entire front hill at my old house was one huge ant hill, one or two application that first summer and the hill was under control.

Seems like borax or ortho home defense might be the answer.

Ortho

I swear by Ortho Home Defense. We used to get swarmed by ants in our old pop up, and sometimes also had spiders who would make it their home as well. We also had spiders and ants in our second camper (travel trailer). I sprayed that in the spring and *poof* no more pests for the rest of the season.

I've also used it around the house and it's great stuff. We used to live in the woods and had huge numbers of HUGE spiders that would casually stroll in and sit down on the couch next to us (okay, just kidding, but they were very, very big), as well as centipedes and other nasties. I'd treat with this and be pest-free for a long time.

If you use it, spray and allow to dry completely before allowing people/animals in the area.

I've been using a product called Demon that comes in water soluble packets that you put in a garden sprayer. The ants hate it and generally don't come back to an area once sprayed. Here's a link to the Amazon sales page: http://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&key...l_5ux292jq48_b

Terro is good stuff. The liquid/gel version is borax based and great for sweet loving ants. I don't know that all ants will be drawn to certain types of baits so their use indoors is limited. Diazinon based powders have worked well for me in outdoor applications where you can actually see the hill.

Ortho Home Defense

I've used the Ortho Home Defense product at our house and I can back up what others are saying, it's more effective at keeping bugs out than some professional companies we've had in the past. Of course, I spray about 10x the amount that the pros do.

Sam's club had a good price on a two pack about a month ago. I don't recall the exact price, but I bought it thinking it was just one large container then opened it up to see two bottles.

Find a treatment that contains hydremthylnon. Something in a liquid form. Terro always worked for us.

About a month ago I emptied the contents of my gas blower into a small basin, to work on it. Perhaps 4, 5 oz. Later on I realized I was being eaten up. I slapped them out - one at a time, then dumped the gas (mixed w/oil) on the ant hill. The next day I saw all sorts of ant skeletons. The hill has remained inactive.

Expensive, environmentally unfriendly, and effective.

No ants invading our trailer, but we've had pretty good luck using Diatomaceous Earth to get rid of ant hills in our yard.

We were camping in the KOA near Savana a few years ago and got invaded by ants. We had nothing on hand to defend our selves so I sprayed all the wheels, stabilizers, electrical cord, septic hose etc with WD40 where contact was made with the ground and a few inches up. That stopped the invasion for some reason. Then we hightailed it to Wallymart for the proper spray.
