Anyone cover their Power Tongue Jack ?

I just saw a cover for the head on a power tongue jack. Do the majority of you cover yours for the winter?
Do you recommend one?

I have a Husky HB4500 that came with a cover, so the only time it's not covered is when we are traveling.

I covered mine when we had a TT. All I used was a contractor grade trash bag that was big enough to cover the electrical pig tail too.

x2 I take it off when I clean the TT to inspect it, wipe it down, and give it a touch of 303 protectant.

Yup. My in-laws had a problem a couple years ago when their power jack froze up. They aren't completely waterproof, and apparently they had ice on the gears and it was frozen. He found out as they were trying to leave for Florida one February. He took off the jack and planned to buy a replacement one on the trip. When he got to warmer weather it worked fine.

We both just cover ours with 5 gallon buckets. No need for anything fancy, just keep the water out.

I read on here about water getting inside the jack and causing problems - minor problems, but still problems. I have a canvas cover with a drawstring and I leave it on all the time except when I'm operating the jack. Cost me 12 bucks I think and gives me a small slice of peace of mind.

We cover ours all the time, even when on the road. It's just a vinyl one with a drawstring. As the elements start to break it down, we add a 4 gallon trash bag underneath the cover to keep it water proof.

We cover ours with a small, white, plastic trash can every time we disconnect. The safety chains hang from the lip on the trash can, hold the cover in place and keep the chains off the ground.

I have an odd smaller bucket, about 3 gallons capacity. I leave it on it all the time my Jayco is at home. I also take my cord and put it up over the top of the motor and hanging down under the bucket so the contacts will not get wet. . I use a bungee cord to keep the bucket on tight and not rattle around in the wind.

I tried a bag and found it will hold condensation around the motor so like the idea of the open bucket bottom.

Just purchased a lippert electric tongue jack for $200 after taxes. Piece of junk!

First rain we had , then temperature drop just below freezing and it would go up but not down, now the led light is staying on when switch is in off position .

Had rain yesterday and then it froze last night, just went out and checked it.

It won't go up or down and the light won't work .

Full charged dual batteries and fuse is good, this is one week old.

Obviously moisture is getting in and screwing with things.

Soooooooo, I guess I'm putting a bucket on it once I dry it out and get it working again.

I sent lippert an email, we will see what they have to say.....

I started covering ours after I was having problems with the jack; the switches were starting to get corroded and it was a pain to have to take them apart and clean the contacts -- especially on a 3 year old trailer. I use a 3 gallon plastic bucket that once contained dog treats, and I loop the chains through the bucket handle to keep it from blowing off in the wind.

we just replaced out tongue jack, it started locking up and overheating just after a servicing, it looked like to me part of it was bent, the repair facility it was because water got in, they've seen a few, the rubber part on top leaks, they replaced it under warranty (1.5 years old) and advised to keep it covered for a longer life.

My electric jack on my 2014 Jayco froze up, water got into the mechanism and rusted everything. I replaced the jack and now put a cover on it to keep water out.

A small waterproof ditty bag (hiking gear bag) with a draw string works great..., any camping gear store has them in many sizes. I keep one on my jack 100%.
