Anyone replaced their stock mattress?
Hello
The mattress that came with my travel trailer is barely decent. My wife sleeps on it all the time and sometimes I sleep on the couch (more comfortable). Has anyone replaced their with a marine or RV speciality mattress or a home model? Which did you choose and where did you get it from?
Thanks

I replaced mine with a Sleep Number RV King. Sleep Number makes RV versions that have radius corners if your RV needs this. When I bought mine Camping World was the only outlet for the RV King where the regular Sleep Number stores handled the Queen size.
I full time so the cost wasn't an issue for me and I absolutely detest mattress toppers, especially memory foam.
In researching what to buy at the time, I found a local mattress manufacturer that would make one for me even with the radius corners at the foot, but it weighed over 90 pounds. I was also looking at reducing the weight in the front of my 5'er, so the Sleep Number won out. I never regretted it and would buy a Sleep Number again. Another vote for the Sleep Number is you assemble it on site. Meaning you take the individual pieces into your bedroom and put them all together. Very easy vs trying to wrestle a king size mattress into a tight RV bedroom.

We put a 4" memory foam topper on ours, got it at Wally World for just over a bill. For the money it suits our needs very well. That Denver Mattress euro-top "upgraded" mattress is a waste of time and money. Would love to put a residential queen, but don't have the space...

We put a 4 1/2 memory foam topper on our pillow top rv mattress, we sleep better at the camper than we do at home on our sleep number bed

Another 4" memory foam from Wally World added in ours
Well its real more complicated than that...
Took the memory foam from the house put moved to the TT then put a new one with the "cool gel" in the house
BTW cool gel does nothing IMO--LOL needed to try

HA! We had the same experience with various "cooling" features on memory foam mattresses and toppers, and I have come to the same conclusion. But then I don't know how hot it would be without those features...

Well according to my son who works for a furniture and mattress store the only difference between a queen short (the RV size) and a regular queen is that the regular queen is only 4 inches longer and the same width. With that in mind it opens up all kinds of options. We haven't replaced ours yet, but opted to add a foam memory topper. Works great!

We looked at the OEM RV Queen junky mattress and saw that there was room for a full size queen to slide under the lip of the vanity when the slide closes. Looked at the Sleep Number brand and decided to let its customers pay for the expensive advertising and bought a Comfortaire. Later bought another in king size for home.

We bought a Simmons pillow top queen from Bailey's. Sure, it's longer and leaves a little less room to get through to the other side....but for $199, I can live with it.

We have an Ikea foam mattress. It works great on top of the plywood platform. The OEM springs were killing us, and my feet were hanging off the end. After the first trip with the Ikea, to make sure we could live with it, I used the platform as a template to cut a 3" longer piece of plywood to keep it from sagging.

We replaced the cheap foam mattress that came with the trailer for a Home and Gardens RV queen euro top. This was a 500 dollar upgrade at the dealership. I suspect he's sold the same cheap mattress hundreds of times and had the buyers upgrade to the fancier model. We than put a 3 inch memory foam on top on it from Costco

We hated the stock one, slept on it one night and then the wife went to Costco and got the Cool Gel Memory Foam in a box. It overhung the shorter platform by about 3-4 inches, so we trimmed this with a sawzall in about 1 minute - Cut really easily with this. Make sure to do it in the garage as the "cool gel" pellets make quite a mess. We are shorties, so we did not need the extra 3 inches. Overall, it is a bit soft for my liking, but the wife is comfy and happy....so therefore so am I!

We hated our stock mattress as well. Very uncomfortable. We replaced it with an 8" memory foam mattress from Overstock.com. It's an RV queen so it fits perfectly on our bed frame. Very comfortable and not hot at all in the summer...with the right sheets!

X3 or 4 I lost count. 3" Gel memory foam topper from Costco. Not perfect, but makes the RV mattress bearable. The only problem is we moved the topper to our regular bed at the end of the season and now I'll need to buy another topper in the spring! Will trim off the extra as it hangs over the end of the mattress and pulls the sheets and blankets which then pulls on our feet.
