We purchased a new 2018 Jayco Jay Feather 34RSBS a year ago in May and on the second trip out the water heater (Atwood/Dometic Model GC6AA-10E) quit working on both propane and electricity. Determined it was the SVC control board fuse combo that was not functioning and purchased a replacement control board and put it in and it works on propane and not electricity. Talking with technicians at Camping World about the problem they said that the SVC control boards were made in China and were prone to failure and that now Camping World was replacing the SVC control boards with ones made in the USA and had not had any failures with the ones made in USA. Has anyone else had this problem with the Atwood/Dometic model GC6AA-10E SVC control boards?
There has definitely been reports of bad control boards the last couple of years.. I have a 2016 Jay Fight with a 10 gallon Atwood.. So far, so good (knock on wood!) Seems to coincide with Dometic/Atwood merger.
We have been RVing for 30 years and have owned several travel trailers of which the last 2 were Jayco and never had problems with the water heaters using either propane or electricity. Agree that quality control was lost in the merger of Atwood and Dometic.
There was a bad batch coming from Atwood/Dometic, both in their new units and in the replacement boards. That's one reason I didn't bother with a warranty replacement. Easier to just do it myself with better equipment.
