Atwood GC6AA-10 Water heater

Good morning and thank you for reading,
I have a 2016 Jayco 29RKS and love it. Have used it a few times without incident. This morning when I went to visit it, my electric water heater would not light. It makes the clicking sound like the electronic igniter is working but NOTHING. I switched to Gas and no problem. Lit right up and hot water. Of course I looked thru the manual(No luck). I do not see any switches to turn on other than the one in the trailer. Could use some help if you have any ideas. I'm sure it is something easy but this newbie can't figure it out. Thank you again

I'm confused by the statement '.. electric water heater would not light.' My water heater, on electric, is silent... no clicking on electric and nothing to light.

On propane there is clicking until the gas lights, then a 'roar' when the propane ignites.

Note that it will take a LOT longer to heat water with electric.

I hope some of this helps.

You should have 2 switches, one for electric and one for gas.

Our WH also has a switch outside, lower left hand corner for the electric element.

Two switches on inside and none on outside. When trying electric it just won't light. On gas, no problems.
Thanks for your responses though

Can you get to the back of the water heater? Some also have a switch there.

As previous posters have said it's not supposed to "light" on electric. There is a 1400w electric element inside the heater that once you turn on the electric side it activates the element. You wont hear a thing while the water is being heated with the electric element. It takes a while for the water to be heated on electric.

But be sure there is actually water in the tank before turning on the electric, otherwise the heating element will burn out.

We had to replace the element in our last RV after we purchased it from the PO--10 minute job with a standard HWH element wrench.

How do you know it is NOT working on electric?

Like others have said.........it does NOT light.

You might want to leave it on electric for a few hours and see if it gets hot.
