Atwood W/H Replacement

Anyone care to share any first hand experience changing out the Atwood 6 Gal DSI Model GC6AA-10E. My heater has a black box attached to the back of the unit that looks a bit complicated to remove. It is on the lower center of the tank and held in place by 2 small bolts. First, they look like it is hard to get to them and secondly, does the box contain electrical components? If so, does the box come off as a unit and is it plug and chug type or do you have to remove individual wires? The front connections look pretty straight forward.
