Atwood water heater not working

I have a 2015 jayco jay flight travel trailer, model 33RLDS. I tried to start the water heater on propane, but it wouldn’t start. I checked a few things and found out the propane tank was empty. I put another tank on and tried the propane and it was just making a humming sound. I had to leave and go home so I turned it off.

I came up today and tried the propane and it is doing nothing, you can’t even smell propane. Plus there is no humming sound. Then I switched on the electric and that is not working. I put the switch on water heater and push the electric water heater switch on. The switch lights up but the water is not getting hot. I checked the breakers and they are ok.

Any help would be appreciated.

There should be one or two resets depending on the model, black rubber grommet covering them. If you ran completely out of propane you need to bleed the line first, start by lightning eyes on the cook top. I've had to loosen the line at the water heater before to get the air out, always check for leaks after you loosen the line, dawn and water brushed with a small paintbrush works.

Atwood water heater not working

I got the heater working on electricity. I cleaned the connections.

Now when I try to light the propane I get a humming sound, and I cannot smell any propane. If it is an airlock how long would it take to bleed the air out? I lit the burners on the stove, and the pilot light is lit In the over.

Should I try to light the propane and leave it on until it lights, would that push the air out?
Would it hurt the water heater to do that?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thankyou

It will not hurt the water heater, usually the heater will repeat trying to light two or three times before it shuts down. Switching back to electric resets the process.
