Awning fabric damage

Seeking advice -- can my awning be patched?

Long story short, my RV parking is narrower at the entry than at the back, and while pulling the new to me 2018 Jayco 195RB Baja out to go camping, I didn't realize I was so close to the eave of the house and put the awning right into the rain gutter. It tore into the outer layer of fabric and scratched the 2nd layer.

Feedback is appreciated! Randy

You have considered an accident claim and want to avoid that or your deductible is to high.

If the tear is not the whole length you might consider patching the tear.

Amazon has several types of clear tape, no personal experience with any of them. I repaired one several years ago by sewing it on an awning corner that was tearing. The tape wasn't around them.

Get the awning tape from CW or Amazon. Both work very well and should last.

Thanks for the tip -- I looked on Amazon and there are quite a number of options. Any specific recommendations?

I repaired a tear in my awning with clear Gorilla tape. That was a month ago and still going strong. The tape will never yellow and is very sticky. Just clean the area well. I gleaned this info from another member on this forum. Available at your local Walmart.

We have used Camco, RV tape, and something else. They all work about the same. Use the 3" wide.

Thanks, everyone! In retrospect, I'd have a cleaner repair by using white tape underneath and the clear I purchased topside, but all in all, I consider my repair effort a success and appreciate the advice you all offered!
