Awning Fell apart!

Went to roll in my electric awning yesterday morning and the "ball that goes in the socket" fell off. (The end of the awning that looks like a ball in a socket)
The arm would not retract back in. I am assuming because it did not hae anything to "pull" it back in.

How do I at least get the arm retracted so I can have this repaired?
Not liking the electric awning right now. grrrrrrr

Been there done that... I am sorry to say that you have a lot of work in store for you to get it rolled back..
You have to remove the fabric totally from both the roller and the RV body.. then zip tie the frame back to the body of the RV (you can wiggle the zip ties between the RV wall and legs of the awning) then drive it in to the dealership.. I first tried manually (by hand) rolling the awing up but the first wind that came alone unrolled the whole thing over the roof of the RV. It is a good thing I had 4 guys there to help me get this done..

Seann, no, the arm stayed extended. My other half rolled the other part in as far as she could.
This morning we extended the awning and I was able to put the arm back in the socket but once she started roling it in it would pop out again.
So.........I held the awning roller and we got it rolled all the way in.
The arm I pushed down on one of the extenders that slides down and got it flush with the camper. Tied it to the extender frame. Now I have to take it in to be fixed.
I am not liking Jayco right now......

Tracy, true, just a little frustrating. Have had issues with the dang mice. Took it to dealership to find the dead mouse smell. They "perfumed it all pretty" and when I got it back....next day....same smell.
Went camping......nail in RV tire.
After camping trip I took camper back to dealership and the awning will be fixed when parts come in.
Different manager in service I took out to RV and pretty much told him.....keep this thing and I don't want it back until you find the dead smell thing!! (As they were to do the FIRST time) Dead smelly nest thing found in insulation of which got replaced by new insulation and underbelly cleaned.

Yea.....I am a little frustrated.

I hauled our new White Hawk from Middlebury, IN straight to our ranch, arriving April 4. Parked it under a covered carport on the front of my metal workshop. Within a month, we had mice in the trailer! (I knew I had 'em in the workshop, didn't expect them to invade the trailer so quickly.) Anyway, I trapped two mice in the trailer this week, one in the shop. Just spent about an hour underneath the trailer and found 3 holes where mice could invade, the worst one being where the stove/refrigerator gas lines went up. (Odd--Jayco obviously used a lot of that expanding foam stuff elsewhere on the underside; but missed a RAT sized hole.) Anyway, I used about 1/2 roll of gorilla tape, and all seems to be good for the moment. Time will tell. I'm contemplating getting 3-4 cans of expanding foam to squirt between the frame and the bottom material, but worry that would be overkill and/or possibly cause unexpected problems. Any thoughts would be welcome!

Our awning crashed on us last year at the beach.. To make a long story short, we ended up unscrewing the mounting hardware as that was the only way to safely return the trailer to the city for repairs.

Wendolyn, it is frustrating.
I asked my service guy if switching to a manual awning would be stronger than the elec. He said probably not because they use the same tension arms that extend the awnings out. So it is really is an either or thing. Even though the wind was a zero factor in this case. I will be glad to get my rig back.
Mike, I hope your mice don't find your insulation as cozy as the mice here did. It stinks!! haha
