Hi all. First off, this is my first post here. Lots of great information on this forum so I am sure someone has a solution for my issue. I have a 2016 Jayco 40 BHQS bungalow. We live in the unit full time. Yesterday I noticed my awning (which is extended 99% of the time) will not retract. We have always kept it tilted to one side to keep water from adding weight. We did have some semi strong winds here in Oregon last week but nothing that would cause damage (I don’t think). When I push the automatic retract button, you can hear the motor clicking like it wants to retract but nothing happens. I haven’t had a chance to climb up there and see if the wires are fully connected but plan to this afternoon. I read through other people’s awning issues on here but couldn’t find a similar issue. Any input on what could be wrong? There is obviously still power reaching the motor if it is clicking, just not sure why all of a sudden it quit. Frozen motor...I hope not!
Merry Christmas everyone and I appreciate any input you may have
Tyler, first of all welcome to the Forum and Merry Christmas. It may help a bit if we knew what type of awning you have, Carefree, Dometic, LG etc. Have you tried removing the tilt and retracting it?
I also just unplugged and re-plugged the power cord up by the motor and it still isn’t working. Solid connection. I untilted it as well and no luck. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the tools needed to manually close the awning when I purchased the unit. But I am sure I can buy online if need be.
