Electric awning. We'll leave it out most of the time, and I DO give it a grade for better runoff. I also have had the auto-dump feature work PERFECTLY a few times, but I generally don't trust it.
Wind is my primary concern. It doesn't take much wind to make that thing move a lot. If it's out and getting windy, I'll keep an eye on it. The first time I hear the "clunk" of the awning blowing around, it comes in.
It's VERY RARELY deployed if we're away from the site. Only if we're relatively close and can get back in a hurry if weather approaches. If I'm comfortably certain about the weather (we often will go weeks or months without a breath of wind or a drop of rain in the summer) then I'll leave it out, but I'll still tilt it just in case. But if there's any doubt, I roll it up. I've seen too many damaged awnings to risk it. It only takes a few seconds to roll it up and then I KNOW I'm safe.
