Awning soaking wet inside

When my awning is rolled up and it rains outside, it get water everywhere inside the awning. After it rains, I or one of my kids goes out and opens up the awning so the water can dry out. Do others have this issue? How can it be prevented? Because of this water getting there, over time, it puts black marks on the underside of the awning.

Yes that does happen. It seems the water wicks into the rolled up ends and makes its way down the length of the awning. Some people have made these little covers out of 2L pop bottles which fit over the rolled up ends - only for when parked and not for travel.

I personally don't worry too much about it. I store my trailer on my own property so during the non-freezing months, I open it up each week and dry it out if it hasn't already been used. A cleaning with dish soap and bleach mixture once or twice a season takes care of those marks and squished bugs, etc.

Even sitting overnight with condensation, it wicks.
We just open up as Sky does and wash it twice a year while using and before we put away for a few winter months.
Boy, I miss camping during the holiday season!

When mine is stored for any period of time more than a month I use the DIY soda bottle covers as shown here: https://rvshare.com/blog/creating-ch...-protector-rv/. They work pretty good. Not fool proof but good enough that the awning doesn't get nearly as wet and dirty without them. I secure them with zip-ties so they don't blow away.

Thanks all,
Glad I am not the only one with this issue.

Really like the soda bottle fix! I AM GOING TO TRY THAT.
