Awnng Lights

Hello all,

I have a model 174BH. I am looking to put some LED lights under the awning on my rig.

I'm leaning toward mounting directly to the side of the trailer instead of the on the cylinder that rolls the awning fabric.

I would like to install a light strip that has multiple color options.

Has anyone done this?

Is there a specific brand I should use?

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

You will find that MANY people on this forum have done this mod to their units.

Here is a link to my mod that I did 2 years ago

I did - and did what it looks like OurJayco did. I did some searching and found a few threads like his that explain how to do it.

I bought these on Amazon for $30 CDN https://www.amazon.ca/ALED-LIGHT-Con...d+strip+lights

Remote controlled, multi-color.

I simply removed the 120V transformer and connected them directly to my 12V power, which I tapped in to behind my Battery/Grey/Black/HWT switches in my 26BH. Drilled a small hole in the side of the trailer to get wires in, and sealed it back up.

They work great and have handled a year in the elements without issue. I think I was all in, including supplies to 3M double-sided tape them up and control cable (I used flat phone cable - cheap and easy) for about $45. Oh, and about $10 for a six pack of beer while installing

Awesome. I found that using a good quality 3M double sided tape in addition to the adhesive backing on the LED strip worked well.

I also did the same thing with some small plastic stick on clips I used to route my power wire along the side of the TT under the light strip. Without the doubling up, the sticky backing on the clips wasn't enough to hold them on long term - a few fell off over the winter in storage. I got all those little parts at Home Depot.

I've used the exact LED light strips for a few years and they are fabulous. Different colors and dimming on the remote make them perfect for individual preferences.
