Axle flip cost

The wife and I have a 2016 174bh. Does anyone have an idea of what a good price would be to pay someone to flip the axles and install the bigger tires and wheels. Just trying to get an idea from yall before I start inquiring from dealerships. Thanks for your time.

Just curious but why do you want to do that? Ground clearance? You've only got about 500# of carry capacity in the axle so I don't see how bigger tires would help with load capacity. Just wondering.

Be careful with raising your CG also. I've read where others have had trouble with sway after flipping. I have no idea what it might cost but I think it's a fairly simple procedure.

the slx have a really low ground clearance and aren't very high from the factory so I would not be worried about the higher center of gravity.


on my TT the dexter flip kit cost under 80$, and took me 2 hours to install and weld, you could just install it yourself, and have it weld at a shop for pretty cheap. and gets you 4.5inch lift.


The tires are another thing, with the bigger tires you can expect at least 300$ and lift of about an inch.

When I had my 1206 tent trailer lifted it cost $200.00 but it was done by a shop that knew what they were doing.

well it's really not that complicated when you do it with the dexter axle flip kit, the welding part is optional, I only did a couple of spot welds to make sure nothing moves. if not using a kit you will need to get new spring hangers and have them welded by a good shop.

With Dexter torsion axles they can't be flipped, only lifted. Some Jayco models offered a lift kit as an option. If your is one of those you may be able to get the correct parts from Dexter Axle.

Otherwise it's custom work and being a 2016 you will almost certainly void the warranty on the frame and probably the axles. Just something to keep in mind.

Tom,
Our previous trailer was a Feather 185RB. We got tired of dragging its rear end, so we installed after-market back wheels. They, and the back bumper, were destroyed by the extraordinary stresses experimented when the weight of the trailer must be carried by its rear end, as the wheels almost leave the road surface.We had to look for other options! Jayco suggested flipping the attachment of the axle to the underside of the springs. Warranty would not be voided, as long as we used the Drexler kit intended for this purpose. A local trailer manufacturer did the modifications. It was less than $300. Problem solved, and we were happy campers for the following two years. No CG problems, and as the height change was about five inches, NO more rear end damage. I hope this will help.
