Axles not centered

I've been curious since we bought our 2016 jayco 22mbh if the axles being off-center is an issue. It tows fine, but just doesn't look right, can I fix this with longer brackets or hangers? Is it possible the wrong equalizer was used?

I was thinking about upgrading my standard equalizer to the one shown in your photo. I sent my trailer information information to eTrailer asking about their equalizer and if theirs would work. Here is their response:

I did speak with one of our tech team members and they say that is the only one that is going to give the same height is LC279688 but it will be 1.5" longer so you would need to get slightly shorter springs to make it work. Did you upgrade your equalizer or was it that way when you bought it? You probably need shorter springs to bring the axles closer together, or go back to using a standard equalizer.

I have noticed the wheel and tire assemblies not looking centered on numerous trailers. Is it an axle problem or is it just a mismatch of plastic wheel well trim
sizing to axle spacing.

I think it's more cosmetic than function. I can't imagine the axles being off kilter from the factory. All that work is usually jigged and pretty precise. I would blame the body before I'd blame the axles.

It was like this when we bought it used in 2019. I can't say if it was like that when new, but I wouldn't be surprised. It seems to be well-optioned so I imagine it was sold with the equalizers already installed. I suppose if it bothers me enough I'll look deeper into the shorter springs.

Does it look the same if you would take it to a perfectly flat/straight parking lot and park it? I've noticed that with mine, they will look like that after I back in to a spot from a turn, etc. But if I pull it straight for a few feet on flat ground, they align perfectly.

Yes it always looks like that, no matter where it's parked or how.

if the distance between wheel centers is the same on driver side and passenger side then no problem. I only have seen this once, but an expanding wheel lock was over torqued and separated the wheels it was between due to U bolts that didn't hold.

Are the axles attached to the center of each of the leaf spring stacks?

They are all mounted on the locating dimple that's on the leaf springs.
