Backflush Valve - 2011 Bungalow 40FER

This is my first post. My wife and I are new at this RV thing but since we purchased our 2011 40FER in May we are so far loving it.

My question is to do with the black tank - The Bungalow does not come with a backflush valve and I would like to have one installed does anyone have any thoughts or concerns about this?

My other question is to ask if the so-called 50AMP cheater plugs really work? This is where this special adapter has to plugs - one for the 15AMP and one for the 30AMP which in theory gives you 45AMP - Does it really work?

Hello DaneWatson! Welcome to the Jayco Forum. If you get a chance, come on over to the new member forum and introduce yourself.

I think you are the first Bungalow owner I have seen here! I have always thought they were neat and wanted to see one in person.

I am not sure how the bungalow is configured, but I have a tank tornado. It does really well at flushing out the system and the tanks.

On the 50 amp cheater, I would be a little concerned with the bungalow. It really depends on how the unit is wired. With a 50 amp connection, it is really two 50 amp 120 volt connectors. If the 50 amp side that you are "cheating" needs more than 15-20 amps, then you could run into problems. Being that it is designed to sit on a semi-perminant spot, I would think it would be designed so that 50 amps is almost required.

Jayco is usually good about providing a wiring diagram. You might consider giving them a call and ask for the details. My guess is they are going to tell you that it is best to go with a 50 amp connector.

Let us know what you find out and send some pics of that Bungalow if you have a chance as well.

Welcome danewatson. Wife and I looked at the 40 fer and fell in love with them. Our plan in about 2 years we are going to get a fer , put it in az rv resort, Use our 33 rlds to travel with from march to sept then come back and live in the fer until the next march. Don't have any answers to your question but congrats. Ernie

Backflush Valve - 2011 Bungalow 40FER

Terry - Thank you for your prompt reply.
I will forget about the 50AMP cheater but I sure would like to get a backflush valve installed.

Yes I will go over to the new member forum and introduce my self.

Here are just a few pictures of our Bungalow - the 8' ceilings throughout seems to make it feel more spacious.

Ernie - Thanks for the welcome, yes you and your wife will love it.

Welcome to the 2012 Bungalow.
We have been in it for a year and still love it.
I did purchase a backflush valve from Camping World and it works great.
I never did use the 30+15 AMP adapter to make a 45 AMP connection so I don't know if that really works. I lucked out and we are now in a proper 50 AMP site.
We live in it full time - love it and you will too.
