Backup Camera

I know there are older threads on this subject, but I couldn’t find any that addresses my question. I have had a Garmin BC 30 back up camera on my truck bumper for three years and it has worked okay. Recently I upgraded my GPS to a RV 780 and got a second BC 30 for my TT. I installed the camera the day before leaving on a trip and ended up wiring the power through the trailer tail light and placing the transmitter on the side of the trailer frame. relatively close to the bumper. This set up worked fine while initially the trailer was stationary . However, as soon as a I began moving, even in the yard, the signal would get lost momentarily. On some occasions the GPS would not recognize that camera at all. The BC 30 set up instructions state the transmitter range is 45'. My total length is 44' (TV/TT). However, it looks like something is blocking the signal so my goal now is to move the transmitter closer to the TV. But, I am having a hard time finding a good place to secure the transmitter. With the weather covering on the bottom of the trailer, I'm not seeing a lot of options. Has anyone found a good mounting location for the transmitter?

Thank you in advance.

We have a 2020 Jayco platinum talon we just bought and it's wired for the backup camera should we have them install it at the dealer or is this something I can do myself?

I would think you could do that yourself. Mine was not pre wired and I’m pretty confident I’ll eventually get it working right. The prewiring makes it a lot easier.

You can totally do it yourself, but my dealer did it for free so why not let them.

OP

I’m going to guess either all the metal in between the transmitter and receiver is breaking the signal, Try temp mounting the transmitter on top of your propane tanks in the front of you can. Or you may have a loose connection since it’s intermittent. Try going over your connections again…. I like to solder electrical 12v connections once I know I have them right, takes the possibility of it losing connection while going down out of the equation.

Soldering will probably work better than the splice connections that I have now.

Rather than hijack this OPs thread start a new one with your topic. You will have better results finding your specific answer.
