Baja Edition Tires: Swapping for fuel economy

Has anyone changed the knobby tires on their Baja trailer for AT tires and noticed improved gas mileage?

Thanks

I don't think you'll realize enough savings to pay for the new tires. You should replace your tires about every 5 years - regardless of mileage. I'd just hang tight and get your money out of them.

I would be curious to know the rating of your "Baja" tires....

Greetings Threebutchers,

I see you are a frequent poster on the owner’s forum. Thank you for all the information you share, especially for us "newbies". You also gave me some recommendations on LED lights previously.

As to your question on my Baja Tire ratings, I'll get back to you in couple of weeks as the Jayco Swift owner’s manual does not list the tire ratings, I will have to wait until I go to where my Trailer is stored (about an hour drive from home). They are however Jayco supplied 15" off-road Dunlop Mud Rover radial tires.

I see you have a 15RBH too. What is your average mileage? I'm getting about 11-12 mpg whereas I get 18-20MPG when I am not towing the trailer

I just wanted to thank you for being a frequent contributor.

Im surprised they put those LT Mud tires on a TT to begin with. Likely a C rated (truck tire) but gotta be noisy on the highway i imagine

I guess they were trying to get a off-road look by putting a LT Mud Tire on a Trailer, agree that changing tires will not make much if any difference in fuel mileage, not much rolling resistance difference on a Trailer application.
