Bathroom fan on Eagle HT 284BHOK

We have purchased a new trailer and will pick it up next week. The overhead fan in the bathroom is described as a “rainproof bathroom power vent”.
I didn’t look close enough to know if it has a hood on it. On the fifth wheel we are trading in I installed a Maxxair hood to get us “rainproof.”
Any 284 BHOK owners out there who have this fan? If so, is it really rainproof or should I plan on moving the cover.

Thanks,
Keithb

It is probably the same fan that I have, and it is rainproof. I never close the vent off completely. While not as quiet as my Fantastic fan, it is adequate and better than most. Never had any rain come in, storm towing or otherwise.

You didn't mention the model but several Maxxair fans have a rain sensor. When rain is detected, they automatically close and shut off.

The ones that have the rain sensor will be labeled as such on the fan's control panel. I can tell you from experience that this feature works well.

However, the advantage of installing a hood on a fan is that you can still use it even in the rain.

Look up "Josh The RV Nerd" on Youtube. He has lots of videos. If the weather is good he goes up on the roof at the end of the video. The HTs I have seen have a good looking weather proof vent cover.

This video starting at 8:47 shows and discusses the vent from inside, and at 19:50 shows the vent from the roof.

I forgot to mention that the fan and the cover are an integral unit (on the HT's at least). It is not designed for an aftermarket cover, nor is it needed. I'm sure that KeithB will be happy with it.

Thank you for the replies! That fan looks great and I won’t have to install a cover. We are very excited to take delivery a week from today!

I have hated that bathroom fan since I bought the trailer. Yes, it is certainly watertight running or not. But it hardly moves any air when compared to a Fantastic Fan.
