Bathroom faucet replacement?

Our '97 still has the orignal bathroom sink faucet in it. In order to keep it from dripping, the hot water valve needs to be turned really tight, not to mention that the plastic has some cracks in the housing. I was looking at a couple new take outs on CL, but got to wondering if I could just go down to my local hardware store and buy a decent "home grade" faucet and put it in. Im thinking this is what the prevous owner did with the kitchen sink. Is it just a unscrew the old faucet and screw the new one on? Will the lines thread right on? Im not an expert at plumbing, but think I can make this happen if it doesnt involve cutting the pipes.

I'm not sure about replacing with a home type faucet, but the rest is all pretty much true, screw in the new one and you're ready to go.

I'd compare prices on Amazon if you chose an RV specific faucet. Amazon usually has the best RV part prices.

I am not sure if the older ones are as easy, but it took me all of 15 mins to change ours out.

Standard home faucets will work just fine. Most any faucet with 4" centers will work just fine. Kitchen faucets are generally 8" centers.

They are interchangeable. Just check for leaks.

The 4" format faucets are interchangeable.

But the distance from the base to the aerator sometimes varies. Double-check so you are not banging your knuckles on the sink just to stay in the flow.

Thats funny you say that. Thats part of the problem now. Thats kind of the reason i like the one that was posted in the "what did you do" section. One other thing i will have to look out for is the height. Our sink is mounted on the rear wall of the camper and the faucet is mounted at the rear of the sink, and the old jaycos like mine the rear wall is leaning in from mid point up. I guess i cant go too crazy, like the kitchen faucet, its real tall, can get the big pots under it...

I too want to replace ours, not because it is old, but because it doesn't reach out far enough into the sink. Drives me nut to have my hands on the back of the sink just to rinse my hands. Let us know what kind of faucet you use

I did this mod on our '05 Starcraft hybrid. One of the best things I ever did, and the holes and threads lined right up. And it's a much better quality faucet too. We used a laundry tub faucet, so it reaches a little farther into the sink.
