Bathroom sink, something missing?

I have a 2012 Jayco Jayflight 29RLDS, my problem is the bathroom sink. There is nothing in the sink drain to keep the stopper up. On my last Jayco if the stopper was turned part way it would stay up. This won't stay up no matter how I turn it. I can take the stopper out when I use the sink but if something falls in the sink it will go down the drain. Can someone post a picture of their drain so I know what is missing so when I take it back to the dealer I can show them whats wrong. I told them about this problem when it was new and they ordered a new stopper but it is just like the old one. I don't think the stopper is the wrong one I think there is something missing from the sink drain.

That is the way Jayco is sending them out now. Mine is exactly the same way. I got a drop in sink screen to catch anything that gets dropped. They have them at Lowe's and Walmart. Why Jayco choose to start using this very poor design is beyond all reasoning..

We have the same thing on our 2012 we just got, our 2010 Jayco 17z it worked, they had a nitch to lift it up. I improvized using a black o ring at plumbing departments and rolled it on stopper all the way up, should work. I have mod pics in mods section should be under 2012 19h mods.

Same thing on our 26BH Joe. I totally agree with you that it's a stupid design to use. I asked the exact same question when I got our trailer home and couldn't figure out why anyone would engineer such a useless stopper system.

I called Jayco about this and they just gave me the name of the company that makes their sinks, Deco Inc., thought I could find it online and call but can't find them. We used to have a 2010 Jayco 17z which had a fine stopper and Jayco told me that Deco made that sink also????

I have made do with a O ring but it still is a bad idea. We never use the stopper so I am going to put a screen there and file the plug away in a cubby hole. Useless squared.

My drain is the same way, and Jayco didn't even include the stopper.

The screen mentioned by tnchuck100 works well; it just sits inside the drain, and can be easily removed (and cleaned of all the debris it traps).

I saw this last year and didn't understand it then. Bought a 2011 22 FB used and my sink has an insert in the hole (I guess, since it's on the storage lot right now) so that if I rotate the stopper it rests on the insert and stays up. Seems bizarre that they would change this for 2012...probably saved 25 cents toward the cost of the trailer.

I bought mine at an HEB grocery store. I've seen them at WalMart. Probably any hardware store as well.

You've got to wonder just how much $ Jayco saves by sticking us with this. We picked up a strainer too at a swap meet. I think it was 50 cents.

Bought our mesh drain strainer at a dollarama dollar store. Came in a two pack, one big and a smaller one. Small one fits the bath sink and big one fits the tub. The crome outer ring fits flush at the bottom so it don't look like an add on. I have seen them at many hardware stores.

I bought this at Lowes. SS, slips right over the hole and is easily removed when needed.
