I have heard the 6v batteries are generally more robust, but I never have used any. If you don't mind the price tag go for a decent quality lithium. Much lighter, compact, more usable capacity, no maintenance, supposedly long life. (we'll see...!)

Ms says I'm full of useless knowledge and other stuff...
I used 2 six volts for years and found them to work well boon-docking. Later I changed to three AGM 12 volt. About the same amps but if you have one go out your not stuck with one battery that won't run anything and we were in places where I did not want that to happen.
A decision you have to make considering your circumstances.

I was considering going from a single 12 volt battery( it’s 4 years old) to a two 6 volt battery system. I only boondock about 1/3 of my camping. I have a Yamaha generator that runs my tt and chargers my battery very quickly. I would have to modify the front battery’ mount , buy new cables and spend a lot more for batteries. This ain’t brain surgery. “CAG” thank you for your input!
Go Lithium. I recently pulled out my two AGM 6v that were rated at 100ah and replaced them with 2 100ah Lithium batteries.
One thing to remember - AGM or Flooded batteries can only be discharged to 50% - so a 100ah battery only gives you 50ah. A lithium can be discharged all the way down, so I get the full 200ah.
So I went from 50ah to 200ah in the same space with 1/2 the weight and 10x the life.
No it wasn't cheap - but what about RVing is :-).
Also be aware that you may need to change your Converter (ie the thing that changes 120v AC to 12v DC to both run 12 stuff and charge the batteries.
Lithium charges VERY differently and on higher voltage than AGM or Flooded. Most trailers built in the last few years will have a converter that can handle lithium with a simple jumper change. But make sure you check. If you need to upgrade, replacement converters are easily available from places like eTrailer.com that are a simple 2 screw, 4 wire swap.
