Batteries Stay Or Go?

Do you remove your batteries when in storage or leave them on the camper? If you leave them and disconnect, how do you ensure you get a full charge before leaving to camp?

I’d like to find a good way to leave the batteries and have a full charge when I pick it up. Right now I pull them and bring home to charge. Problem is having to connect and disconnect the wiring each time. Be nice if they made quick connectors to make it easier.

Your profile says you live in California, Canada. Never heard of that place so we don’t know what kind of temperature you get.

Doesn't your tow vehicle charge them while traveling?

If there is electricity you can leave it plugged into and that will solve the problem. You could also get a battery tender to hold the charge if you have power.

If no power available, you might consider solar to keep your battery topped off. In any case, you must at least disconnect your battery if you cannot charge it. Those pesky drains kill a batter quickly!

I take mine inside to keep it from freezing and have a battery tender Jr. to keep it in the best condition possible.

It depends how much time you are talking about between trips. If you have a battery disconnect switch and turn it off when the battery is full after a trip it should hold the charge for over a month. You will get a trickle charge while traveling from the TV and a full charge after hooking up to shore power.

If you store it at home just plug it in. If you use a storage lot take them home and either use a battery tender or just charge them when you put them back in the trailer. Storage lots are a good place to ( lose a battery).

Anyone aware of a quick connect or is the best way to really place the 2-3 wires on each terminal each time.

You can go this route if you want a quick plug disconnect.

A little more wire maybe? Each rig has its own power needs.
