Battery Disconnect Not Working
Hi, Im new to the forum and a 1st time trailer owner. I bought a brand new 2020 Whitehawk 27RB and have yet to take it out. Here is my problem hopefully someone can help me with:
When my battery disconnect is off/disengaged I still have power inside the the trailer. Thinking something was wired wrong I unscrewed the disconnect from the wall and saw there are 2 black wires connected to the same pole and 1 red wire connected to the other pole. Shouldnt there only be 1 wire on each pole?
Help....the dealership I bought it from is 2 hours away haha.

Are you plugged into shore power?

Most disconnects are worthless, the manufacturers seem to be required to allow power to the emergency brakes, CO2 detector, propane and smoke detectors, levelers and too much other stuff.
Using my factory disconnect means the batteries go dead in 7 days rather than 2 days.
I don’t use ours at all, never. I installed a real disconnect at the battery for a 100% disconnect. A month later both my battery banks are still at 90%.

I do believe Ghen is correct probably a law that some of the alarms and breakaway switch that have to be always connected and the power tongue jack or electric levelers for ease of use you know get out push button not have to waste time on operating the switch. I also a switch that battery is 100% disconnected uh seems that someone at Jayco did not put disconnect on a 2020 Jay Feather. The two black wires one is probably to a buss that shuts off most of the stuff but still keep the items connected.

If you search for marine battery disconnect switch, a bunch will come up. I have two battery banks, so mine is a A,B,Both,None
Maybe this link will work.

I don't know about the Greyhawk as I have not tested every item but the disconnect does seem to take the alarms etc out when I use it. The one mentioned above is what was on the Cyclone and nothing had power when it was flipped with the exception of the genny which would start when the disconnect was activated, if it was needed.

Have you tried disconnecting the negative lead to the battery? That usually kills everything.

On my old trailer I had for 15 years I put battery disconnect on it. I got the parts at Home Depot. This last summer I bought a Jayco 212QBW I put battery disconnect on it. I got the parts at Home Depot I thank for about $27.00. I used outdoor 120 v household parts.

Check that it's wired properly. I had a similar issue with my Eagle and it turned out the converter was miswired. Swapped 2 wires at the converter and it works as expected. Power is cut to everything except emergency brake.
Here's the thread working through my issue.

Resurrecting this post. April 2021, brand new Jay Feather. Yep, battery disconnect not working. Found the progressive dynamics converter model, looked up the wiring diagram. Double checked wiring on the disconnect itself (it was ok). Lo and behold, multimeter confirmed it. Same exact issue. Swapped the wires on the lugs and presto - battery disconnect working. Have to say thank you for posting the solution!
Find it a little hard to believe that this problem still exists but at the same time, grateful the solution was solvable by moderate (at best) skillset.

Our Jay Feather had a recall on that wiring - not connected properly and all our 12V power went out on the coach - easy fix for our dealer (who slid us in on the schedule last June when it happened).
