Battery Disconnect wired incorrectly?

I recently discovered that the battery disconnect switch in the forward locker can be easily bumped and switched off (happened on a recent trip). However, in the off position the lights inside still work, fridge will run etc. Now, I discovered that the battery won't charge when hooked up to shore power with the disconnect switch in the off position. I ended up with a dead battery because it wasn't charging, but never knew it because the rest of the trailer 12v systems were operating normally.

Is this normal? Doesn't seem to make sense to me –*the disconnect switch should completely disconnect the battery from the trailer. I'm thinking it's wired incorrectly.

Most disconnect switches do not completely (100%) stop 12v power going into the trailer or for different functions, primarily the CO2/smoke alarms. There are other parasitic drains as well through out the trailer. Can you pull the disconnect switch and check the wiring???

I found that my battery disconnect switch doesn't work either. But I'm not sure if the battery will still charge with the switch in the off position. I found this diagram on the back side of the panel that holds my battery disconnect switch and it shows that the battery will charge from shore power or solar with the switch in the off position.

Thanks everyone for the help. Turns out the switch was wired wrong. They put the load and the battery + on the same side of the switch, and the shore charging and Sanicon relay on the other side. So in effect, all I was doing was disconnecting shore power charging and Sanicon (which I don't have) from the battery but the rest of the coach was still connected.
