Battery Draining While in Storage

We recently upgraded from an old Prowler to a new Jay Flight TT. The battery on the new Jay Flight won't maintain a charge while in storage...for even short periods like two weeks. Any thoughts, experiences or advice on what might be the culprit? I've checked the connections and everything appears to be tightly connected with no stray contacts that might lead to slow, parasitic current flow.

Does the Jay Flight have a microwave with a clock display, sound system with clock display that stays on even when the sound is off, and a carbon monoxide detector with a small light that remains on ? All these are little "power alligators" that will drain a battery, A battery disconnect switch should eliminate these little robbers. Hope this helps.

Radio, propane/CO detector are a couple I can think of

yep, this is because there are things like CO detectors and TV/radio memories, clocks, etc that constantly draw off of your 12 volt system (battery). Only about two ways I can think of to eliminate this from happening. One is to leave it plugged in to 120 all the time or the other is to install a battery disconnect. I just installed one on my TT and it pry took a total of 15 minutes including getting tools and putting them away.

Welcome and congrats on the new Jay Flight!!!

What you have is the normal draw from the radio, and the propane detector. Within a short time they will kill the battery. The only way to solve this is either leave the rig plugged in which is not always practical, or do what some of us have and install a battery switch or just unhook the battery cable by removing the battery box lid. I chose the switch for ease and convenience.

I mounted a Blue Sea Mini switch on a larger battery box (group 27 I believe), wired it in and now with a 1/4 turn my battery is "unhooked". Check my mods link for pics....

Thanks, guys. Sometimes the most obvious issues aren't quite so obvious! A battery disconnect sounds like an excellent iidea! Thanks for the quick responses!

IF the TT is wired properly, and until you decide what you want to do, just pull the main 30 amp fuse by the battery.
