Battery Group Size

I have a 1995 Jayco 24 foot TT.
My questions are: What battery group size do you recommend?
How many CCA should I have, or doesn't it matter?
Use regular car batteries or deep cycle?
Should I have 1 or 2 batteries?
Thanks Tom

Really depends what type of camping you will be doing. Regular camping with full hookups and one Group 24 or 27 deep cycle will do just fine. Dry camping or "boondocking" and you will want either 2 large 12 volt deep cycles or 2 6 volt batteries in series. Deep cycle batteries are designed to be charged and discharged many times (but not below 50% discharge is recommended) where as regular car starting batteries are not. -Lee

I use the deep cycle batteries because they can be drained and recharged more and last longer than regular batteries. For me the higher the rating the better. Our new trailer came with two 12v batteries. When they die they will be replaced with 6v batteries for a golf cart.

IF the battery has a CCA rating it will not last for RVing you need to have a deep cycle battery... automotive batteries do not have thick enough plates. You will find you will have to replace it every year or two
