Battery not charging while plugged in
For some reason my battery isnt charging while plugged into shore power.
its an older TT so it could be anything.
Looking for any suggestions, from simple and cheap to complicated and expensive.

Is the fuse near the battery blown? Battery just not taking a charge?

take the battery to autozone or another auto store and have them place it on their charger. If it takes a charge you know it's not the battery, but something with the charging system in the trailer.

Moon, in case you are new to this stuff, never discharge your battery below 50% capacity That is just above 12v. Charge it back up before storage. Check water (distilled). Once charged, disconnect the negative for any storage of non-use, or there are small currents that drain the battery. The makers sometimes provide a battery disconnect but it may not disconnect things like smoke alarms and LP detectors. Check that charging fuse...

You should measure voltage at the battery while plugged in to shore power. Should see about 13 - 13.5 volts. Disconnect from shore power and measure again. You should see a voltage drop. That will tell you if your converter / charger is functioning.

I did not find a fuse for the battery (not surprised with its age) I should probably put one in lol, I will check the voltage at the battery tomorrow.

Just to be sure run your finger on the large red wire from the terminal on the battery down to the frame. You could run into a small holder about the size of a postage stamp with a fuse inside. Also how about the fuses on the converter?

My daughters battery had a dead cell the day she picked up her new Trailer from the dealer.
Rv’s can be months old before they get to the dealers lot. Anytime after the battery is installed, it just needs a week of poor maintenance and lack of charging for a “brand new battery” to be destroyed by a dealer.
Take your battery and have it tested to eliminate it as a problem.

I can say this because, the TT is a 91, and I bought and installed the battery myself 4 days ago.

This is interesting, since there doesnt seem to be a red wire that exists. And Jayco has zero info on this TT since its so old.
Any one got wiring diagrams for a 91 Eagle 220?

If your battery cables are black and white, the black is positive, and the white is the ground. Do the inside lights work as they should on just battery power?
If not:
How do the battery cables look? Is the copper wire green? They might be corroded internally to the point there's too much resistance. Trace back the ground wire to where it connects to the frame. there may be a bad or corroded connection. I had corrosion starting on our 9 year old TT, and that was inside a junction box.
Then, with 110 volt power disconnected, there's checking and tightening connections inside the converter, and the 12 volt fuses inside it. Turn all the 110 volt breakers off, then back on. Do the breakers feel normal when you work them?

Ok so I did some digging, looks like there is no inverter in sight, but there has to be one somewhere since the 12v lights work without the battery hooked up, so now I am really confused.
When I checked the battery earlier this evening it had 12.99 v and the status station said good, after going out after dark the status station says fair.

So 12.99 volts was measured while the shore power was hooked up? If so, did you pull the plug and remeasure at the battery.

I did not pull shore power yet, I will do that tonight. 12.99 seems low for an inverter/charger, but it is a brand new battery.

So checked tonight with shore power, 13.5, pulled shore power and checked again, watched the voltage drop off some (pulled meter before it was done).
So I guess the battery is charging some how some where.

I had this problem with my 1996 Jayco. It had two reverse polarity fuses on the converter that blew. The 12v stuff would work when plugged in but wouldn’t charge the battery.

I had same problem... I had blown 4 fuses on my converter. ( I think I mistakenly reattached battery cables wrong once after storage, and blew them. That also destroyed my INVERTER, which I just replaced.)
I replaced the fuses and my converter worked fine after that.
I understand some INVERTERS have a converter aspect also, but mine does not. (Converter is separate panel in control station/fuse grid.) My inverter only does the pass thru when connected to shore, and inverts the power for the fridge when running down the road or dry camping.
