Thumbs down Beach Use - Jayco White Hawk, Yes or No

Living only 60 miles from the South Padre Island seashore here in South Texas, I was wondering about taking my camper to the beach for a few days every-so-often. The area's KOA is super nice, but I am worried of the effects of salt air on my trailer. Advisable or not? Any precautions??? All comments are welcomed. Thank you.

The winter Texans usually have all the sites booked. Congrats on finding a spot.

I ran the Boy Scout Sea Base on the island for seven years and yes, I learned that things will rust faster. However by rinsing with freshwater after you leave the area you will greatly slow down or eliminate the problem.

There are a lot of people who spend much of the winter in Isla Blanca Park year after year and return with the same units running and looking great. I wouldn't worry about and enjoy all the specials on the island this time of year.

I dont see a problem many people take their rvs to the beach.
I would just wash it after.

My 2016 has been parked at my seasonal site 1/2 mile from the ocean for 4 years on Cape Cod since it was new. It has never moved. I wash/wax it a few times a year. I see no affect from the salt air. Nor do I see any affects on other, older rigs at my CG.

We have camped on the beach several times. Just give it a good wash when you get home.

My favorite is if it's raining on the way home, I get a free fresh-water flush which gives me a head start on cleaning all the salt spray/water/sand off.

I also have sprayed many parts with WD-40 or CorrosionX, and my long-term plan is to treat the underside with POR-15 and probably Fluid Film.

I still find a rusty screw here and there, but I'm okay with it so long as there's nothing major...

Get a cheap garden hose and cap off the end then poke a bunch of holes in it, then turn on the water and drive over it some if it doesn't rain. Or you can use one of the cheap yellow yard sprinklers to get under there.
