I changed the bed in my 212QBW .... i replaced the thin plywood Jayco used with 5/8", built a supporting wall which now seperates the inside storage from the outside, plus also supports the bed.... cut the plywood so the front section is stationary, while the back section inside the unit still lifts up ... but found no need for the struts. No reason to have the entire bed lift if you have to get something from just inside. Thats how Jayco used to do it on the Qwests way back when they actually made the beds sturdy .... and BTW, your mattress will love you for it!
