Best gadget I hoped never to use.

Today driving home from a Washington State beach camping trip we got a flat tire on our trailer. No problem my hubby says because he has a can of "fix-a-flat". We were only 5 minutes from home too. I don't think 1 can would have fixed this tire. This was our first ever flat tire in a travel trailer. I had purchased a Trailer Aid Tandem Changing Ramp just in case when we bought our first trailer and I am so glad I did. It worked like a charm. We had the tire changed in 20 minutes. I think we bought it at Camping World but I know Amazon has it too.

Glad to hear it works well, thanks for the report! I ordered this off Amazon last month and haven't had to use it yet. (knock on wood!)

Every time I come on this site I find something else to buy. There should be a message when you sign up, "warning, JOF may be hazardous to your budget"

A jack under the frame. Tried the Trailer Aid on our WH but it doesn't work with the wide stance axles

I can attest that this is a VERY handy tool, after having to change a tire on the shoulder of the NYS Thruway, at dusk, in the rain.... Only needed it the once (so far) but it paid for itself in that use, in my opinion.

I have the Anderson Trailer Aid. I've used once in my driveway. I really like it. I think it will save a lot of time on the side of the road, which is my purpose in getting it. Definately worth the $ if it works for your set up.

Last year we had two flats..... second time being a blow out that tore up the bottom of our trailer :-( We were so lucky on the second one. This sweet older man came out of his house and offered us use of his hydraulic floor jack! We would have been waiting for help if he wasn't there.
Gonna be checking these out later! I hate to carry things "just in case" but having been in those shoes I think we'll make the room! Hubby wants to carry a floor jack but I think I've convinced him that's overkill :-)

I just use the same leveling blocks I use when camping, nest them together into a ramp. Doesn't make sense (in our situation, we are very tight on space) to keep single purpose stuff around. Works even for wide axles.

I had a flat once, wasn't really prepared for it. After that experience i bought a trailer aid and Got a big 4 way lug wrench. I used the Trailer Aid on my friends 30 FT trailer, it worked great

For the wide stance axles you need a taller 'trailer aid' type device to get the other wheel off the ground. I built my own out of pressure treated 2x6s. In testing on our WH at my house it worked great.

I have always been a huge fan of the Trailer Aid. I have been using it for about 8 years. 4 tires on boat trailers and 3 tires so far on two different trailers.

Two weeks ago, I had a flat and had to use it (on I-10 just outside of Blythe, CA). The side of the road was so smooth that I could not get the trailer aid to work. I kept pushing it backward down the road. It just kept slipping backward and grinding down the plastic. I had never run into this before. No matter what I did, I could not get it to stop slipping backward.

I had to use all of the leveling wood and plastic levelers I had to get the tire up. I will keep using the Trailer Aid, but make sure you have a backup plan.

Does anyone have personal experience using with a mor-ryde suspension? Been looking at getting one but afraid it won't work since there's quite a bit of flexibility for motion between the axles.

Everyone can test if it will work before buying. Get wood or plastic pieces that are as tall as the trailer aid and drive one of your tires up onto it. If your other tire comes off the ground, you are good to buy one.

I carry the orange plastic squares and 2x10x12 wood pieces as well for leveling.

Sux to hear you had to use the trailer aid, but glad it all worked out!!! Hopefully you won't need it again for a long while!!!!!

Main reason I have not bought a trailer aid yet is storing the thing. To simulate the trailer aid I cut 2x8's (think that's what I cut up! Lol) into smaller pieces that I can stack to make a "trailer aid". They fit in a Homer Tool Box 19" from HD with a 4 ton bottle jack. Bought another Homer Tool Box for my Slime compressor and couple tow straps. My thinking is get the good tire up on the stack and then slightly jack the flat up as needed. Don't know if on way is better then the other, time will onto tell....

I think if the test worked out I'd just carry the wood and forget about buying an extra doodad.

A simple 4 ton Hyd.Jack works for me (for Truck and Trailer). Overloading the other axle is not a good thing to do. I don't need the storage space full of junk. But each his own.

Do you have a picture? Sorry, I'm a "gotta see it" type of person.
