BEST GADGET'S For CAMPING

Hi all..... I am new to the camping world with a 2004 Jaco 28ft Jay Flight... has 1 slide out....

I have cleaned the camper from front to rear....and familiarized myself with things.... im still learning lol

I thought about posting and asking whats a great item to have that you think has made an impact for you and you just caint live without now after using it.....
Plz post pictures if possible...

If you have a lot of movement, even with the stabilizer jacks and wheel chocks, those may reduce it some. Several folks here use those.

As for myself, there's one gizmo that I bought, only because it was something I've never seen before. Turned out to be a blessing after I shattered my arm. It makes handling the hitch much easier, and not expensive.

It does make my job easier hooking the hitch to the receiver. It's widely available now, so check around for a good price.

Anderson Levelers! To make them really easy to use on all surfaces, I apply traction tape to both surfaces to keep them from slipping.

Plus it makes changing a flat much easier! Must haves.

Some bungee ball cords will keep your water hoses and electrical cables from becoming spaghetti during transits.

Spend as much time camping as you can. Your needs will become evident very quickly. Buy stuff as you need it or you will fill your space with clutter you don’t use.

A drill with a socket for stabilizer jacks and also a blackstone griddle you can literally cook everything on it

A big X2 on that purchase. I thought it was a gimmick, until i tried one.
My wife (who is of small stature) even tried it and was impressed with it.

If you don't have a WDH yet the Andersen is great! Less weight and easier on and off and no heavy bars to lift or pry into place. Can't see your tongue but assume you have an electric tongue jack. Since yours is used make sure you have the emergency tool for when the jack dies and you need to manually jack up the tongue till you get a new one.
I hate it when pull up to a site, get all set up and find the power pole is a few feet to far, thats when a extra 30 or 50 amp extension cord pays for itself, just like an extra 25 feet of hose.
Last, on the hose, love my Zero G hose, so much easier to deal with than the white monster everyone sells.

Traction Tape! What a great idea! I have had issues with slipping on Anderson levelers especially if it is raining. Did you put the tape on the all of the tire side of the levelers or only on a portion of the surface?

Where do you store your hitch that you can lift it out with the HitchGrip? It seems like I would have to pull it out of the compartment, put it on the ground, then attach the HitchGrip to carry it to my truck.

I watched their video and the way folks were walking without the device was hilarious. If someone carried it that way their back should hurt.

When I had my TT, I used slide out stabilzers. Our slide out had a sleeper sofa and dinette table. I was always concerned about the stress on the frame and slide out when everyone was sitting on one side of the TT. Using stabilizers under the slide out removed the bounce and any concerns I had. You can find them on Amazon, Walmart, or CW. They come in different sizes for vertical height. While on fairly level ground, you should measure the distance from the ground to the slide out frame at both ends to get the minimum height required for your set up. I'm actually going to buy a set for the kitchen slide on our FW. This is the heaviest slide on most FW's.

I devised a saddle bracket from stuff I had kicking around the garage, and bolted it to the TT tongue. I take it off the TV, slide the shank in the saddle and replace the pin and padlock on the shank. It's along the lines of this piece.

I have no problem handling our hitch head, even after surgery for a broken back. Some of my vertebrae are filled with cement.

Like TaftCoach said, the more you camp, the more things you’ll think of. Here a few of mine with photos of some:
— “Y” fitting to put on the hose bib. Allows you to shut off RV water with a quarter turn when you leave and have a second hookup for a utility hose.
— Water meter to gauge how much is going in when you fill your FW tank or using the black tank flush.
— Screen door handle
— Command hooks, towel bars and shelf baskets
— Small foldable step stool.
— Flip-up Camco shelf
— Flexible hose blowout plug with shutoff for blowing out water lines.
— Filler tube with shutoff for filling FW tank or flushing WH.
— An EMS, chain and padlock. This is a must to protect your electric system.
There are plenty more — you’ll discover them.

And don't forget an EMS to protect your TT from electrical issues at the power pedestal. It can save a lot of money in repairs or replacements. There are some great choices available now, like Hughes, Progressive, and SurgeGuard.

My hitch lives in our shed when we are home.
I usually leave it installed on the vehicle when camping. Yes, my shins have been punished by that choice.
If I take it off while camping and store it in one of the camper compartments, I take one for the team and don't bother using the lift device.
