Lots of threads on this topic on the forum. If you do a search, you will have days of great reading.
Basically, you are going to hear three main names, Honda, Yamaha, and Champion. Specific models will depend on your power needs, are you powering your ac, just charging batteries, etc.
Good luck with your search.

seeing you are from Idaho, make sure you get one that will run at altitude. I have the Westinghouse 2200ixlt generator and around 7000 feet and above it does not run well at all. Westinghouse said they were looking into a fix for that but do not think they ever did. so if the other brands have high altitude kits or just plain run at altitude go for those.

As has been suggested, you should do a search on past threads. Also, check out some of the videos on Youtube where experienced campers talk about generators.
You didn't say how you're going to use the generator. How large/heavy a generator can you tolerate? Do you want to power your entire rig, including your AC, or do you just want to top off your trailer battery?
A little bit of homework on your part should make it possible for you to provide more information with your inquiry.

For a list of options you can check out rvgenset.com. I think the site is run by Sean Michael of the Long Long Honeymoon VLog. He has several reviews of the units he has tried, but he does use affiliate links to Amazon on the site to generate revenue. Nothing wrong there, but be aware.
I was intrigued by his recent video on the Atima 2000W generator. It is powered by Yamaha for a fair bit less $$ than an actual Yamaha. Power output seemed really good as well as he was able to push it way beyond rated capacity before it went into overload. It's one I might consider for a budget buy.

Tells of my Honda Generator
One winter night, boondocking, I could hear my neighbor's generator from 1/4 mile away louder than my 2000w Honda just a few feet away.
Another day at home, a street level transformer blew up. The local power was out for many hours. I used my Honda to run the refrigerator and a few lights. It was quite enough that none of my neighbors could hear it.

Personally I researched my needs and wants. Noise dependability reputation warranty and performance. I ended up with 2 Honda 2000w companion's. I can use one when I dont need AC... and both when I do. And I cant move large generator at my age. And they are pretty handy around the farm and house.
Good luck with your decision

Champion 4K mounted on the back of the camper, but only use it in transit for AC and residential fridge. Also have the 2 Honda 2000’s with a 6 gallon aux tank along with a skad of other generators. Overall the hondas and champion are my favorites. Bang for the buck, Champion.

For us and our needs/wants, it was a toss up between the extremely Quiet Honda EU3000is and a pair of the super quiet 2K watt Honda’s. I really wanted the 3K but we ended up with (2) 2K’s, one of which is the companion with the 30A plug. Although slightly quieter than the twin 2K’s, the weight of the 3K was a deal breaker for me. We have a 15K AC and the extra power of the paired 2K’s easily handle it. We also like the much lighter weight of them and their size for portability. When we don’t need the AC, one of them is more than we need. They are also back up power for the house is we lose power. I would definitely suggest going with an inverter generator since they have very clean power and are much quieter than the contractor type generators. Good luck in your search and whatever you decide on. There are several very good brands available to choose from.

As mentioned, getting opinions on generators is like asking which is better, Ford, Chevy or Ram.
1) Invertor if quietness is needed (I assume that's a yes since your a camper)
2) Weight, there are many rated at 3,000 or more which would power your camper, problem is those generally weigh around 100lbs (give or take). Try lifting that up and into the bed of your truck. I know I have absolutely no ambition to even try it.
3) I'm a Yamaha guy. Yamaha or Honda are know for long term reliability, and that's the reason they are more money. You pay for what you get is true in this case.
4) Me personally, I am considering two (twin 2000) to provide a full 30 amp service to my trailer. Individually they are very portable for me to pick up. There are quite a few similar units out there now that are similar in features.
5) if cost is a factor, good things are said about Harbor Freights version.
Let us know what you decide.

1) Do you need a quiet one?
2) What do you want to power with it?
3) What's your budget?
4) How heavy of a generator are you capable of handling (picking up and moving around.), some approach 100lbs or more.
5) Would you consider two smaller "twin units" ?
6) Yamaha, Honda, Generac, Champion, Powerhouse, Predator (Harbor Freight).
Plenty of Youtube videos

Something else to consider is the type of fuel used by a generator..
We have one that runs on propane, so I don't need to travel with cans of gas.
(a 20 pound bottle will run it for about 12 hours on moderate load)

Believe it or not the predator 3500 from Harbor Freight is a good deal. I purchased one and it runs fairly quite and also runs my a/c which my 4000 champion won't.

Which Champion? My Champion 3100-watt (58 dBA, Model #75537i) RV Ready inverter generator runs my 13,500btu a/c without a problem.

We bought 2 Honda 2000s. One is the companion. Got them as a set off Amazon. No sales tax and free delivery.

Don't forget the option of a soft-start for the A/C that allows you to run the A/C off a high quality (i.e. Honda,Yamaha...) 2000w.

Which is not good for your AC or generator.
My Honda 2000 will start and run my 15k ac on my 2018 Jayflight but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Generators
I want to thank everyone for your comments and opinions on the best generators, from all your input I have decided on the Honda 2000 and it ‘s companion. Reliability, noise, weight, the main factors for me are all met with the eu2000 Honda. I thank you all and happy rv’ing. This is a great forum with a lot of Super people.

That's a great choice. You will be very happy with it, especially it's weight and portability.
