Best tires

We are going to take our 2014 Jayco on a long road trip out West this summer and would like to have new tires before the adventure. Every manufacturer says they have the best tires but I would like to hear from actual users. Any thoughts?

You will get lots of answers to this question, no right or wrong. I replaced mine last summer with the Goodyear Endurance tire, Made in the USA, moved up from load C to E, trailer towed great, time will tell how long they last.

Have to agree with Sundancer!

I also bought them and unlike the China Bomb trailer tires, the Endurance have a speed rating of 87 MPH instead of 65.

I am switching to the Endurance going one size larger for a little more weight capacity. Also, there are times in traffic when you just have to go over 65 and the Goodyears will allow that but the Raniers won't. I have had two seasons out of the Raniers and that is enough.

Only regret is that a few months after I bought my 195RB they gave the Endurance option for a lot less than I will have to pay.

Not to defend the Rainiers but our original set went from Seattle to Ohio and back 6,000 miles), from Seattle to LasCruces NM and back (3500 miles) and from Seattle to Winchendon MA (7,000 miles) plus a number of weekend trips and we never had any problems with them.

Still happier with the GY Endurance.

I went from a D to E load with my Endurance tires. Do you run them at 80 psi or a little less? Any issue with the rims and what they are able to handle as far as air pressure? My rims are stamped on the back at 2830lbs, which i can only assume means I can fully inflate E load tires to 80 psi. They are six lug aluminum rims.

I am going to be putting Goodyear Endurance tires on my trailer this year too. I was initially looking at the Maxxis but they are too difficult to find here in Canada. I like everything I have read and heard about the Endurance tire. I will be going from load range C up to load range D as well, and running them at 65psi. I called Jayco and confirmed my rims will handle the increased pressure.

I had a hard time getting any info on the wheels from Jayco, and nothing was stamped on the wheel inside or out. I called Goodyear and got to talk to one of the Endurance engineers down in Alabama. He told me 6 lug rims are rated for 80psi max, this is an industry standard. Also always run these tires at max pressure, helps reduce sidewall flex which also helps keep tire temps lower. Ran them all last summer at 80psi with no problems.

Thanks for that info. That’s good to know. I’ll make sure I’m at 80psi before our first road trip in a few weeks.

Right on, thanks! They have a great sale going on right now too... Hmmm. My only concern ordering online is not knowing the date of manufacture. I don't want tires showing up a year old. I expect them made within the preceding 6 months. Any thoughts on this?

Any tire made over seas has to take the slow boat from China. When I bought the Endurance tires last year they had only been out for maybe six months and the date code was a month old, they pulled a Maxxis tire and it was 15 months old.I would not chance getting tires that old buying online.

Where did you get your tires in Michigan? Do you remember how much you paid?

The Good Year Endurance have been solid so far, time will be the true test, mine have been on for about 12 months. Going up one load range will help reduce your problems, I went from C to D on my boat trailer and have not had an issue in 6 years of running them (3 blowouts with 2 different brands of tires prior).I think most trailers are equipped with tires that are at or very near the their rating, add in some rough roads, heat and time they fail and leave you on the side of the road.

I just upgraded to endurance and forgot to check my date codes. I have a 100 mile trip coming up and will be happy to update everyone. No issues with raiders in 5000 miles but didn’t want to chance it.

Damn I paid 350 for mine. Plus a hundred to mount. Including the spare.
