Best way to fill your fresh water tank

The best way I found to fill your fresh water tank. As soon as you start your normal water filling routine, get in your camper and start that water pump and open the hot water on your tub, or furthest outlet. This will fill your hot water tank while your still at the filling station. This will give you more water to last through the weekend. Just a thought

I fill the WH tank two different ways, depending on amount of time I have or if I forget to start right away. Neither method opens a faucet valve in the TT, so I do not fill my waste tanks prematurely.

Option 1) Start the pump as soon as I start filling the FW tank. But I go outside and open the pressure relief valve on the water heater. When the water comes out without burping air, I close the valve.

Option 2) I connect to the city water connection to fill the tank, to fill the WH tank the way mentioned above. Usually I do this if I forget to start the pump. Usually this is a much faster method to fill the tank.

Me too. Water heater is never empty except for winter time.

I do try to remember to fill my accumulator tank (4gallon) when I am at the fill station though.

Cheers

when you drain, do you use low point drains or fresh water tank drain?? Sounds like you must use low point drains

I have low point drains in the back and what appears to me to be the fresh water tank drain, is labeled low point drain, right where I fill it. As I leave I pop that valve open and all drains out. If I just do the low point drains in the back, they do not seem to empty hardly anything

I only have one way available to me to fill my OFF-ROAD POPUP fresh water tank. A 5-gallon water can pouring into a manual fill port.

My low point drains my water heart as well. I always open both HOT and COLD faucets when doing this. It doesnt complete drain out the hot water hearter as there is a some still in the bottom of it. I don't ever worry about this as there is plenty of expansion room in the 6-gal hot water tank to accommodate some freezing without damage...

We use the Blow-out method here for winterizing which means to drain the fresh water tank at the low drain ports and then blow out the water lines by putting a tankless 12VDC air compressor at the city water port. When no more water is going down the sink drain then we add some pink stuff to P-TRAPS... All of this only take 5-10 minutes.

We sometimes get caught camping up in the high lands around here in the late season in sub-zero temperatures and can do this without any real effort.

Then the next day we have to go find fresh water again somewhere close by.

We always check out the entrance to where we usually camp in the Natl Forest and there is most always a primitive deep vault rest room and fresh water from a spigot there...

We keep it all as simple as we can...
