Black tank roof vent

Jayco Jayflight 265rls. This weekend I made the mistake of leaving my black water tank flush on while the valve was closed, it starting coming out the roof vent. Has anyone made this mistake before? The pipe pushed the vent cover off.

I never have, but I'm betting that's a mistake that will only happen once for you.

Embarrassed to say, I have done the same.

The vent cap should be easy to reinstall. Hopefully the vent pipe was properly glued at the tank and you dont have a leak there. If you didnt see water dripping from underneath, then hopefully its ok. In the future I would watch for leaks when the black tank is full as well as take note of any tank odors.

It looks like your tank vent pipe is too long too. There should be an air cap above the pipe and below the cap, so air can get out. Maybe the pipe was pushed up in the upheaval.

That's a good call. Looking at the pics I don't see any way that cover is going to be screwed back down again.

Yea the cover will not go on like this. I’m guessing it came loose at the tank but there was nothing coming from the under belly.

My BIL did when we were camping together. He was tired and thought he was putting the hose on the fresh water inlet.

Water came out the toilet onto the floor, didn't make it to the vent.

I still smile when I think about it.
