Black water flush fixture problem
Took my new Jay Flight out for the first trip the last few days. Upon returning home I naturally used the factory installed black tank flush sprayer. Is it indeed a sprayer or just a flush opening? There was only a weak small stream of water that came out of the dump port. I flushed for twenty minutes and TP was still coming out occasionally. Is the Jayco flush sprayer just weak? What are other people's experience with the feature. My previous TT, not a Jayco, had a spray system that worked great with about four times the water volume coming out while flushing.

Good question. I have the same issue with that feature and at least annually flush from a hose directly into the toilet. I will follow this thread.

It is very similar to a yard watering sprayer. I would think that grit could impede the flow just like it can on a sink faucet except there is no way to clean it.
Hmmmm, if that is so, what to do?y

Works great on my 2016. You can hear it spraying around inside the tank and has plenty of flow as long as there is decent water volume and pressure on the supply.

Mine works well too. I get a lot a water volume through it. I can see the water getting clearer as it runs. It definitely cleans the tank sensor as well. My tank meter always shows false reading after dumping. The flush cleans it well enough to show tank as empty after the flush

Hopefully, maybe, I can get CW to see if the volume of water coming out from the sprayer is normal. I talked with the head service manager today about it briefly. I'm taking the TT in on Thursday to have two of the wheel bearings repacked. Two out of four started spraying grease this last weekend on our very first trip. He said he couldn't fix anything on my list except the wheel bearings till fall. I have a long list of warranty items. I'll post back after Thursday or Friday on whether they could look at it and if so what they said.

There's a screen on the hose connection port. It it clean and free of debris?

Try taking your water pressure regulator off of the hose and see if that helps.

I attach the flush hose and start the water, and open the black tank valve. After the first full-tank dump I will close the BT valve, while the flusher is still spraying water. Then after 10-15 seconds I open the BT valve. 2 or 3 times I repeat. Always runs clear after the 3rd. So all total maybe 3 minutes tops. The small backups that I manage by closing the gate valve always help to refloat the remaining solids.

IF you can at the dumpstation turn the flush on and let it go for 20+ min.. the holes in the sprayer get clogged with stuff from in the tank.... Mine worked gangbusters the first 2 times then started acting like an old lady...till I let it spray for a very long time

Mine works fine also but I do a little more than just hooking up and flushing. I will do the normal flush for about 5 minutes. Then I close the black tank and fill it with water. Just be careful and have a spotter so not to overflow the tank as well as checking your panel to check it's capacity. Once filled, I open the valve and let it flush again. If possible, it's beneficial to take a little drive to slosh the water around but not necessary. You'd be surprised how much more "black waste" comes out. If you feel you need to, you can repeat this process. I know everyone has their own system but this is mine and it seems to work pretty well.

I had the same problem with mine. Saw that the hose leading to the sprayer was a little long and had a crease in it, so I disassembled the hose and cut it back some to take the crease out. All is good now.

I see some good suggestions in this thread.
- Check the screen on the intake fitting.
- Check for hose kinks. (BTW, don't use your fresh water hose for this, just in case...)
- DO NOT use your water pressure regulator. I always hook up my fresh water using a 2-way splitter valve, with the regulator on one side for the fresh water hose to the TT, and my "flush" hose on the other side so I can use full campground pressure.
- On my 2016 Jay Feather I hear the wonderful sound of water spraying forcefully into the black tank, and see the flow of "gunk" coming out the sewer hose as it gradually turns clear. I think it works great.
And now my own addition to this thread:
- Note that there's a vacuum valve inside the TT fitting that - according to my dealer's service dept. - apparently goes bad a lot. Mine does leak a little inside the bathroom vanity, and it's going in for service next week to replace it, among other things. If this valve is bad it could be affecting your black tank flush system, I suppose.
