Boat Trailer hookup

I have a 23' TT and would like to tow a small 12' boat behind the TT. It is an aluminum boat, so pretty light.

Anyone done this??

I haven't, but have a friend who does. It works fine for him. It's not allowed in some states.

I think not allowed in most states is more accurate.

According totowingworld.com you can only tow a second trailer behind a fifth wheel trailer in AZ.

Anyone done this?? Here are some pics of my previous setup. Custom hitch was done by Trivetts in Plainfield, In. Checked with Brown County Sheriffs Dept. and INDOT said Ok. 70ft max tandem towing, I was 68ft. Did this for 4 years without incident, just couldn't back up till boat was unhitched. Hitch cost around $800 and paid for itself in 2 years in fuel savings.

I tow tandem twice a year. I try and travel early mornings between 3am and off the highways by 7am. Less traffic and no worries. As long as your tow vehicle can handle the load then you will be fine.

There are quite a few rules to follow here in WI, but my setup is total legal. I have never been stopped, nor have I had any handling issues. This hitch was fabricated by a local welding shop and it is tied into the frame with two cross supports, very stout.

What year? If it's still under warranty you will void it.

I was told that because you would be welding to the frame it would void the warranty.

More power to you, not sure what your TT is, but make sure it has a sturdy enough frame for the job.

Every state has different restrictions so check your particulars and the particulars on where you want to go. In Minnesota you can only do it with a 5ver and there is a length requirement. With that said I have seen tandem TTs driving down our freeways, going the other way of course. I always wonder if they are Wisconsin trailers, and if they are wonder what the rules are for those who are just passing through. I would think they are not allowed to do such.
