Dinette table up/down
Once upon a time, I had a cabover camper and inadvertently left the table in the up position. Because we traveled on very rough road en route the campsite, the truck rocked considerably side to side. Arriving at the site we found the table laying on its side WITH THE FLOOR BRACKET STILL ATTACHED TO THE STANCHION ! Obviously the rocking motion had ripped out the screws securing the bracket to the floor. It was pretty easily repaired by drilling holes in a different portion on the floor and resecuring the bracket, but still ... Incidentally, that was a lighter table top, and it was still capable of enough movement to rip out the bracket. I'm sure everyone will suit themselves, but having to make a repair like that when it really shouldn't have been unnecessary just provided proof how inattentive (or lazy) I was.

Always with it down. Our dinette is on the slide and when the slide is in the floor is very week feeling, I think it is only 5/8 ply. We quite often travel gravel roads to the campsites we like so I don't take the chance of it shaking around and damaging something. It is no work to lower it and my sons bike usually rides on the bed.

I think it would depend, my last tt had two metal legs set into pockets (it never seen the down position) if the table is one of the ones that had the single leg and attached to the wall on the other side (haven't seen one of those in years) I would most definitely travel with it in the down position.

Free-standing Dinette
A free-standing dinette table would bounce around during travel and must always be down en route. On the plus side, they can be used outdoors, also.
When handling mine on our last trip, I dinged a corner of the awkward 52" table and ruined the particle board top. I might try to shorten the table a little to cut off the damage, but not too short to be unusable as a bed since it is the only bed in our 145rb.

There is nothing in the manual that states otherwise and it was never mentioned as a potential problem during our PDI. So the first couple of trips we left it up and attached to the wall rail. However, that fairly quickly started pulling the screws out of the edge of the table. Our dealer repaired that under warranty. Since then we always travel with it down.

I've never lowered mine, always just a table. Not sure if I know how now that I'm thinking about it... although we can sleep 7 or more, 4 is all we do. Reminds me to not announce to the in-laws we have that capability.

Ours has the wall rail and one leg with adjustments for height on the aisle end ( I have no idea why..I'd think one would want a flat table)
We now travel with it down. While the wall rail never pulled out. the table always slid and bounced on that little adjustable leg. Not surprisingly the ferrule pin broke and we had to replace it with a bolt and nut . Which seems to be the best solution. The leg folds up for table storage
Now we travel table down where it makes a bed..It gives support too to bikes we travel with.

Have tried both. In the down position the table easily jumped up over the lip and fell on top of all the gear stowed beneath. With the table in the up position, the two (3"ish) tube legs on ours seem very sturdy and it has never moved. So now I always leave it up.

Always up.
Just to prove it could be done, I lowered the table in my 1st RV once. Haven't bothered since.
